Question about Gastroenterologists

I was just in to see my doctor today and I told her that I often go to the bathroom every 2 to 4 hours, though it usually doesn't wake me up at night and I get 6 to 8 hours of sleep.

I'm thinking that my bladder may just be used to holding less urine and is not actually overactive. In school, I used to go between classes just so I wouldn't have to go in class.

I'm interested in kegel exercises and bladder training to see if I can get myself to go longer without having to use the bathroom. I may have to see a Gastro. and I'm wondering if they would know anything about this? My doctor said my going 2-4 hours was normal, but it's inconvenient to go that much sometimes. At this point I'm not sure if I have to see her or the Gastro so I'm just wondering who to talk to about this.

Actually you want your body to continue eliminate waste. The last thing you want is a state of toxemia. And no i don't think he means bowel movements. He said himself that it was his bladder and to urinate.

when you say you go to the bathroom, do you mean to have a bowel movement or to urinate?
I assume you mean BM or why would you be talking about seeing a Gastro? In that case, yes, that is a bit much, but if they are normal BM, no pain or diarreah; and if you arent feeling tired or lack energy, then yes, it is normal. Just means you have a fast metabolism. I assume you are probably pretty thin? Going that often may be annoying, but I guarantee that most of the ppl in this forum would trade places with you. Going 2-4 hours is better than 2-4 days.
