Rectal bleeding, constipation and thinner stools

I'm 26 year old female and first noticed what appeared to be a small blood clot on tissue 3 months ago, I then started to experience bright red fresh blood on tissue most times I went to the bathroom.  I went to the doctor and she said it was most likely to be piles but said I could go for an examination to be sure.  I had a sygmoidoscopy a couple of weeks later, couldnt see anything abnormal and said the blood must have come from the piles.

I still wasnt happy with this conclusion as by this point I had started to feel that there was something inside my rectum when sitting down and also pain every so often and I had also started to have constipation.  So i had a colonoscopy privately and the consultant had a thorough look all over my bowels in particular my rectum and concluded that there was nothing there! He took some biopsies to be on the safe side but these all came back absolutely fine.

My doctor by this point believes I am going mad and has said that the blood is down to piles and the rest is IBS although I have never had any symptoms of IBS before.

The blood appears to have stopped now although I still have the sensation of needing to go to the toilet frequently so she has given me fibrogel and lactulose but they dont seem to be doing much help as when I do go to the toilets my stools are thinner and smaller.  I have been back to the consultant and had a barium enema this week and the results yesterday were perfectly normal again showing no blockage or inflammation.

All blood tests have also been normal (ESR & FBC)

NowI just dont know what to do as I know the colonoscopy and barium enema are the most useful tools to find any abnormalities and given my age and no history of bowel cancer in family.  I am going back to the consultant next week and Im sure he is going to be as baffled as I am - is there any other tests? I have thought about a CT Scan?

I really would appreciate anyone's advice who has been in a similar position.

Thank you for your comments.

My main thing now is the pain and sensation of feeling that something is inside my rectum.  I just didnt think this was a symptom of IBS so thats why I felt that the doctors must have missed something but at the same time I thought after all the tests there is no way something could have been missed.

It does seem to be a vicious circle as it is constantly on my mind and she has prescribed me anti-depressants which I dont think are necessary as I wouldnt be so stressed out if I didnt have all these symptoms.

Colonoscopies are the golden standard of detecting bowel cancer. IBS causes symptoms that may not be pleasent, and naturally we tend to believe that there is something much more sinister going on.
I would advise against the CT Scan as it does give off a fairly high dosage of radiation and should only be used if necessary. Your colonoscopy gave you a clear bill of health as far as colon cancer goes.

What is your main symptom now that you are dealing with? IBS is a diagnosis of exclusion. You have excluded all possible issues, so IBS will have to be the symptoms you treat. Also, if these tests have not cleared your anxiety, you could talk to a doc about treating anxiety issues, which will probably help alleviate your IBS symptoms.
