Recurring Pinworm

My family has been battling pinworm for 7 months.  We have been thru various rounds of Vermox, Albenza and the like.  I have cleaned toilets, cut and scrubbed fingernails.  I put all of the bedding in trashbags every morning along with pj's and wash everything in hot water.  I vacuum every day at the most and every 2-3 days at the least.  We took Vermox almost two weeks ago.  We are three days away from our second dose and I am already itching again.  I am getting very tired and discouraged.  If anyone has any answers, please, please....

Come on over to the Complimentery Medicine Community and please start this discussion over there....it will start a very interesting post! lol
We have a lot of good and fun people who will share their naturaly health knowledge!
I am the community leader there.
I myself have done several parasite cleanses and as sputnic said, wormwood is one of the very important ingredients. There are a few others as well that help with cystic stages and larvae stages. :)
PH is very important as well as stated above.

Hi Laura,

A few years late to this discussion! haha, but I just went across to the Complimentary Medicine Community and didn't see a post had been created so wanted to ask your advice... What herbal remedies would you recommend for a mother breastfeeding an 18 month old? I am really cautious because I know whatever I consume he ultimately consumes too... I read a lot of treatments (like wormwood) are effective but dangerous for pregnant/nursing women so not an option for us.

A little background:

I am in the same situation, my family have been struggling with pinworm/threadworm for 6 months now. I have taken Mebendazole (In UK this is sold as Ovex) 5 times now. After the first tablet I was bloated and but they didn't seem to go away. So I followed it with a 2nd tablet and a 3rd (in 2 week increments), only to have them return. I saw the doctor who advised my entire family (my husband and 18 month old) all take it, followed by a 2nd tablet 2 weeks later. We did this, and even travelled away from home to my parents-in-law while we did it to get away from any eggs that may be in our house. This time the worms seemed to go away and the itching stopped. But, alas, 2 and a half weeks after the last tablet they are back again!! :-(

I am on a whole foods plant based diet, have been vegan for 4 months now and don't eat a lot of sugar at all. I am worried that all this medicine (along with a change in diet) has really changed my gut flora and feel that if it was strong enough we could "Resist" the eggs and be done with this! But I am really cautious because I am breastfeeding. I REALLY didn't want to take the Mebendazole in the first place because of this, but succumbed when I realised that my 18month old son could be effected and would need the medicine anyway. It's just getting us all really down and depressed.

Any advise from those out there in the Alternative Medicine Community would be massively appreciated!! I'm due my 4th visit to the doctors this Friday and am dreading being told to take ANOTHER set of Mebendezole.... ugh. Will try and post this in the AMC section too.

We've suffered the same fate in our family. We finally tried an herb from a company called MediHerb. The herb is wormwood and it is a pharmaceutical grade herb, meaning, the herb is held to standards of the same level as drug companies. Once treated, you will need to try and make sure the floura in your intestines are healthy as they naturally help keep foreign parasites at bay. Tillandsia usneodes, fruits such as dates, figs, dairy whey, and beet roots can help nurture the proper pH of the intestine. Almonds and products with papain, and bromelain will also help. Taking enzymes with amylase, lipase, and cellulase are helpful too.

Why is proper pH important? The invironment is essential for growing the right intestinal flora in the body so you are healthy. For more in depth information, contact a certified licensed nutritionist, MD, or DC with a postdoctoral degree in nutrition.
