Thank you for taking the time to respond.
It is new to me to have any gastrointestinal problems. My problems began very recently, and manifest themselves through constant rectal urgency. Colonoscopy revealed rectal ulcer, and biopsy confirmed SRUS. GI believes the problem is likely caused by a partial prolapse and is trying to treat it medically with a combination of Metamucil and Canasa.
My symptoms have improved some while on these meds, but this problem with a constant sour taste in my mouth has appeared.
Hi,
How are you? What other symptoms are present? Mesalamine or Canasa suppositories works by preventing the production of substances that cause the inflammation of the colon. The usual side effects include diarrhea; dizziness; gas; hair loss; headache; mild stomach discomfort or pain; and nausea. The sour taste could be indirectly related especially if you have other gastrointestinal issues like acid peptic disease or gerd. If this symptom persists, it is best that you have this checked by your doctor for proper evaluation. Take care and do keep us posted.
