again thanks.....
have a second stool test or um..."save a sample and take it in blood and all" as my husband says
I have the same question regarding a colonoscopy being done? They need to check for polyps in his colon as well. Were his polyps removed? He's very young to have polyps and this needs to be addressed as well as there is a colon disease that is hereditary which presents with polyps at a young age. Keep Vaseline (petroleum jelly) on his anus at all times to keep it from being sore and irritated. Did the GI say what was causing the redness in the stomach? I'd find another pediatric GI and get some answers for your son. Don't leave until they explain everything, why he has polyps at such a young age, will he develop more, does he need to be scoped regularly for these, is his stomach still red and why? Obviously something is causing the loose stool and they should be investigating this. When they tell you that something will clear up on it's own, ask how long it will take, and how will you know if it has or hasn't? It breaks my heart to see one so young going thru this, keep going until you have answers, and your son is well again. I know it's hard on you as his mother, but be his advocate and demand answers. I wish you both all the best and take care.
For the smell, you can try starting him on probiotics (either pills or yogurt). Did they do just an upper endoscopy or did they also do a lower endoscopy (called a colonoscopy)? Has he been tested for celiac disease?
