It sounds like you're doing great! It also sounds like that gb was REALLY BAD since they had to keep you in for pain management and drainage monitoring. All you can do is rest and wait for your body to heal. You're going to have post-op pain for a while, but you'll probably notice it will get better every day. Since you've researched so much before surgery, you're already ahead of the game on watching what you eat for a while. Good job!
I hear you about the morphine. That stuff just vacuums my brains out and I still have pain, and then the body itching starts. Anything works better than morphine. Since you won't be on the dilaudid that long, I really don't think you'll have any trouble as far as addiction issues go. You've got your mind in the right place for dealing with it too. Just remember that YOU are stronger than the drug. Methinks you're going to be just fine my friend. :-)
Yes, a lot of news and thanks for caring! I had my Gb removed and I'm told the surgery went well. I was taken to the OR and given a lot of drugs, versed, fentanyl etc and woke up with out the GB . This surgeon was a real pro (well spoken of and non forign) and told me before that he wasn't sure if he could finish the job laprostropicly, because of the condition, but he did . He also told me that my liver(hep c) looked good. I ate without problems but am having some pain. I was changed to dilaudid instead of regular morphine and it works much better. I'm worried about be hooked on this after and will taper down with percocett I(which I imagine I'll get on discharge). My main concern now is getting out of this horrible pain that has plagued me fo a year. I will probably get discharged towmorrow unless my pain is too great still. My discharge (bloody bile?) is minimal I'm told but will get the final word towmorrow. Let me know what you think of my recovery and thanks so much for your concern. all the best
