Swallowing Pain and Barium Swallow Results

Hello,

I just got the report back from my barium swallow yesterday.  everything came back normal.  My dr. is at a loss to explain why I am having swallowing pain.  I see a specialist tomorrow, but I would like to know if there are conditions that would cause swallowing pain that would not show up on a barium swallow.

PS.  Pain started as a contact pulled muscle kind of pain after carrying a bag on the train to the airport.  Could that be related?

Cheers,
Dave

I feel it to the left of the sternum (about an inch to the left).  The pain is centered under around the 8th rib (I think... inline with the nipple).
