Sorry took so long to get back to you ... the gastoenterologist only put her on Nexium and gave her a prescription for Raglan which is normally used for gastroparesis. She had tried it before, but didn't give it much time to work and ended up having her gallbladder out which stopped the vomiting for a few months. If these meds don't work, he's suggesting another endoscopy ...
She's on antidepressants, so we're going to see her psychologist to check if she might have lithium toxicity which causes these same symptoms.
BTW: after discussing it with her, found out that she has been smoking marijuana as an experiment (!), and it does seem to help her stomach pain ...
I visited another doctor today. It's been a very bad week for me. I found out that I've lost 30 pounds in the last 3-4 weeks. My doctors is now considering Crohn's Disease. Because I cannot work due to the illness, I have no health insurance or money to spare. My doctor wanted to admit me to the hospital immediately today, but after explaining my situation with money he agreed to give me one week to figure something out before he admits me. He also said that I could be experiencing life threatening complications due to Crohn's Disease. If my condition becomes worse at all before next week, he also made me agree to be admitted.
@Ezem08 - You may or may not be closed to the idea of using medical grade marijuana to help your daughter. I did not use marijuana either until about 4 months ago. NOTHING helps the pain and nausea like I've found marijuana too. It is also the only thing that will allow me to keep food down for any period of time. Though after the effects wear off I do throw up the food, but by that time I hope that at least some of it has been digested. There are alternatives to smoking it as well. I personally use a vaporizer to turn the THC into vapor, which is much healthier. You could also consider baking with it. It really has been the only positive step in my illness I've experienced in 3 years, so please don't dismiss it without careful thought.
Are you able to keep the liquid diet down? My daughter vomits liquids too ... even water.
Have you checked with an endocrinologist or any other doctors outside of the gastroenterology field?
My daughter is a vegetarian ... I've wondered if it could be some kind of vitamin or protein deficiency ... Was sushi part of your diet? Have you been checked for parasites? I'll let you know what her doctor says tomorrow ...
I have been experiencing the same problems for 2 years now. I can not tolerate any food at all and I've been on a liquid diet for 1 year now. Anything I eat comes back up in a matter of 10-20 min. I've had every stomach test done and many more. I don't know what to do either. I'm tired, lost a ton of weight and I'm just trying to stay sane. This disease or whatever it is has changed my life completely. I no longer play sports and it prevented me from going to college. I've just about given up.....I don't know what to do.
My 19 year old daughter was regurgitating frequently and then it accelerated into vomiting almost everything she ate ... she had upper GI, colonoscopy, stomach-emptying test .. everything normal ... a simple ultrasound revealed a gallstone. And while her symptoms were not of gallbladder disease, we pushed for surgery. Now three months later the vomiting has started up again and for the past week and a half she hasn't been able to keep much of her food down, but isn't losing much weight. We're finally getting to see her gastroenterologist doctor tomorrow ... but I'm also considering seeing an endocrinologist if her gastroenterologist can't give us any answers. I'll keep you posted if she gets any any answers and/or relief.
