Yikes

I have an orange oily substance coming from my rectum. I have not had any previous surgeries or anything. What is this and what do I do about it.

Have you eaten anything with olestra, or any kind of specific white fish lately? I wish I could remember the name of the fish, but it doesn't come to mind. Anyway, either of those can produce any oily discharge.

If not, you should probably check with your doctor to see if you're experiencing fat malabsorption. The oily discharge can be duet to that, resulting from problems such as gallbladder/pancreas issues or celiac disease.

Hi there!

Well, without a detailed clinical evaluation it would be difficult to determine the cause of your symptoms. Possible causes that may need to be considered include bleeding per rectum which could occur secondary to causes like fissures/ fistulas, dietary causes, metabolic issues, medication side effects etc. You may consider an initial evaluation by a primary care physician and depending on the cause diagnosed/ suspected, it can be managed accordingly or specialist care may be sought.
Hope this is helpful.

Take care!
