Had my endoscopy...still in pain and nauseous

MTV
I had my endoscopy last Thursday.  At this time, it only showed inflammation at the bottom of my esophagus, nothing glaring in my stomach or duodenum.  I go back next week for the results of the biopsies.  I am still in pain in my stomach and right side.  I am nauseous and I still have a very full feeling and I don't feel like eating.  Pain in my middle upper back too.  I have an ultrasound scheduled tomorrow to check my female parts, just to be on the safe side.  I am just not sure what to think of all of this pain.  I am afraid it is going to end up with my having an exploratory surgery if this does not ease up.  I have been having pain/fullness/nausea since the beginning of December.

Has anyone else on here had an exploratory?

The 10 or so lbs I have lost would have been OK under any other circumstances.  I am 4'11" and now weigh119so I was probably a little overweight prior to this....  Not sure I want to regain anything but I certainly don't want to lose any more due to being unable to eat.  A few years back I was on a very low dose of Elavil for some bladder pain.  I couldn't take the lowest dose either (knocked me out for days).  Maybe that would help now?

I always have trouble in the mornings as well.  I think it is just because my stomach is getting started.  If I feel nauseas I usually place a pillow at my lower back and sit against it in a chair or on a couch. After about 15-30 min I usually feel 60% better.   I think it is because I am resting my stomach on something.  This has helped me do more things like going to the theater, I just bring a coat or something to put behind me.  I am sure we have wildly different problems, but it may be worth a shot for you.  It took me two years to figure out for myself.

The weight gain was the best part about the remeron.  I gained about ten pounds which was fantastic, since I weighed 143 pounds.  Not much considering I am a little over 6 feet.  I lost about 15 pounds after I first started having the nausea, and managed to steady myself out at 143, but it is very unpleasant to force feed yourself.  I took 3.75 mg of the generic remeron, which is about a quarter of the smallest dosage.  It helps, but I end up sleeping about 10 hours a day; I tried to get up to half a pill, but as I had mentioned I am sensitive to medications and I ended up sleeping over 12 hours a day and being exhausted while I was awake, leaving me about as useless as I had been.

Thanks for the input on the remeron.  I am a nurse and I didn't know about the anti nausea properties.  I did just look it up and it had weight gain as a side effect so it must help.  I had my MRI Friday and am waiting for the results on my liver.  Am able to eat a little bit over the last few days.  ?  Getting slightly better.  I was able to go to my son's sporting events this week.  Mornings seem much worse for me.  Just really scared now.

I am 26.  I understand how it makes you feel like you are ruining peoples lives.  I have slowly over the last three years stopped going to public places such as restaurants and movie theaters.  It has strained my friendships, my not wanting to go anywhere that is.  I have managed to work around it a little this last year, but I am still pretty reclusive.

On a side note, you may want to ask around about this, but a psychiatrist told me to start taking an anti-depressant called Remeron.  It is a pretty powerful anti nausea medicine.  I tried it for a while, and it did help the nausea, unfortunately I am sensitive to medications and I couldn't take it for very long.  The reason I bring it up, is that the anti nausea aspect is not widely advertised, and the generic version is substantially cheaper than most nausea medicines that I have tried.

I too have sufferred from debilitating nausea.  I was diagnosed with gastroparesis (mild) a few years ago and mild esophagitis.  I just had another endoscopy fri which just revealed more of the same.  I had a CT scan of the abd. which revealed a sm 1.1cm liver mass.  They tell me this is not causing my symptoms.  I take reglan and aciphex daily and they help a little.  Going for an MRI of Fri. to look more closely at the liver thing.  I could cry....getting so depressed.  I have 2 boys 7 and 11 and feel like I am ruining their lives.  I do feel for you.  How old are you.  I am 37.

I had read an earlier comment you had posted MTV from 2002 about how you had a problem that sounded similar to mine.  I suppose this is to everyone in the forum here, but I have a hiatal hernia and have had it for years.  I have seen my fair share of doctors of many different fields and have gotten nothing to show for it.  My problem is severe nausea everyday,(although I have never vomited, It is so bad and convincing that I think I will everyday anew), a general bloating/full feeling even though I am not eating much (due to the nausea). and of course stomach pain and discomfort.  After many trips to the Gastrointerologist and two endoscopies, I have been given zantac and a "there is nothing wrong with you."  I left school and work very little because of the constant disorienting nausea.  I suppose I am wondering if anyone else is having that problem or maybe had it and found a cure.

I always say that I have had nothing but problems since I had my gallbladder removed.  I had to have it taken out because it was not "functioning".  I did not have any stones.  I have to be very careful of things I eat and how much I eat.  I think, since I have had this latest "episode" since December, I have lost 4 pounds.  I  just don't feel like eating and I have pain and nausea.  No vomitting or fever.  I am wondering about this Sphincter of Oddi dysfunction that people talk about.  I do seem to have some of the symptoms.  I know that I will have to endure lots more tests/meds before they figure out what is wrong with me.  I'll be praying for both of us!

Thanks you too.  How has it been since your gallbladder removal?  I have lost 11 pound since October.  It is frustrating when you feel bad all the time and nothing show up.  Good Luck to you and God bless!
I hope you feel better soon.

I feel your pain.  It stinks when you know you have something wrong, but nothing is showing up.  I had my gallbladder removed in 2002, and I feel like I have been fighting an uphill battle ever since.  I, too, have had labwork (all fine), CT scan (showed nothing), endoscopy, etc...I don't feel like eating, I have some shortness of breath and I feel "full" all of the time.  It's very frustrating.  I hope they can find the cause of your problem.

I have been going through the same thing since October I have had serval test and labwork all negitive. They did another HIDA SCAN on my gallbladder and the ejection fraction rate had drop from 77 to 40 in five month.  I just had surgery 5 days ago, I was doing fine until last night my symptoms of pain, nausea and acid in my throat came back.  I am hoping that it was just something with the surgery and will go away, I hope I did not go through all this pain and aniexty for nothing.
