anyone ever do a Barium Swallow?

has anyone done the Barium Swallow x ray?i may have to do this and what to know about it.what does the Barium taste like?how long does this test take?im worried about it.

Taste like milk with yogart ;-) You shouldn't worry about it.

Its actually not that bad but it also depends on the flavor you get and tastes kind of chalky. The test takes about 15 minutes and really isnt bad at all. Good luck!

thanks for letting me know.hope i can keep my underpants on during this test lol.let me guess i cant keep my shoes on?they told me i cant eat the day before only toast.how did your tests turn out?

I have had a number of barium follow through tests over the years - mine usually take around an hour as I had to drink more than one cup of the barium, and went in for scanning every 15 minutes so they could take pictures of various parts of the upper GI tract. I had to remove all clothing above the waist, but they do give you a gown.
