bright red blood in stool

i went to the bathroom and there was bright red blood coming from behind, so i thought that it was my period but it wasn't because there was nothing in the front. there was blood in my poop and it was kind of a lot which was why
i thought it was my period. then i wiped it and there was no more but when i started doing number 2 again, it
started bleeding again. is this normal, i'm really scared. is it like just a cut or something?

Welcome to the gastroenterology community!  This could be many different things, some minor and some more serious, but it is best to get them checked out by a doctor.  I would recommend making an appointment to see your doctor as soon as possible.

As per the above posting - you should definitely seek prompt medical advice since rectal bleeding is never normal,  So that you are better informed when you visit your doctor, google rectal bleeding and click on to one of the many sites - the Medicinenet site is particularly informative.
