choledocholithiasis present w/out elevated liver functions

Does anyone out here in Medhelp land know if you can present with choledocholithiasis and still have normal liver functions and no jaundice?\

My docs are dismissing certain possibilities for my ulq and ulr pain b/c I "look" healthy on the outside and my LFT's are normal.

Only one nurse thus far seems to understand that looks can be deceiving.  This pain is NOT normal and FEELS like my gallbladder attack on steroids.

MRCP showing 10 mm dilation common bile duct and minimal irregularities in intrahepatic ducts.  Report suggests to rule out schlerosing cholangitis, newest doc refuses this possibility b/c I am not jaundice and last LFT's were normal...which was over 4 months ago.

Pain is now almost 6 months old, daily. NOT normal. and bowels still not normal, but not as bad as they were 3-6 months ago, thankfully.

Help if you can....thanks

Thank you for your response.  I am sure that is part of the problem as I do not have a gallbladder.  However, I have not had it for more than 20 years and have NEVER had this much pain, and for 6  months now...showing 10 mm dilation in common bile duct and "minimal irregularity of the intrahepatic ducts" with radiologist suggesting to further investigate to rule out Schlerosing Cholengitis but GI doc says not worried since I am not yellow and liver function tests norm.  Extreme upper ab pain, both left and right,  still unexplained.  Getting colonoscopy next week, hoping to find cause of pain, get treated,  and to forget Schlerosing Cholengitis. whew. thanks again for response.

Hi, structural abnormalities like stones or polyps will be picked by imaging studies like ultrasonography or CT scanning. Ultrasounds and CT scans will help detect any abnormalities in the structure of the gallbladder. To study the functioning tests like HIDA scan need to be done. Gall bladder dysfunction can cause intolerance to fatty food and sometimes pain in the right upper quadrant. You can check with your doctor regarding this. Regards.
