chronic diarrhea in my toddler

My three and a half yrs old son has started diarrhea out of blue for the past 2 yrs.Initial endoscopy diagnosed him with ulcers, which got cured by medicine but diarrhea still persisted.after ruling out almost all the related tests docs found nothing except that he had CMV in his blood, urine and stools, and that it had damaged (flat) his gutt(finger like projection called 'villi').After everything his diarrhea remains constant to an extend that he wasnt even digesting his medicated milk called 'neocate'.So he had been put hickman line for TPN and anti-virul madecine ganciclovir was given as a tratment.after 2 months he started eating gradually and they took him off TPN.as he started to gain weight after a year he had got another virul attock and he had severe diarrea again,he gets dehyderated asks for water constantly and then start endless diarrhea.his electrolytes gets low and he feels lethargic.all his tests come back normal including liver, kideys, diabetes IBS and crohns.according to the docs he will row out of it once he gets older his gutts will heal but he is still in hospital and on IV for the past 6 weeks.hen they take him off IV he starts to get dehyderated in 2 days.if anyone has any clue about it could you please let me know.

My son was 18 months when he started diarrhea, 11 months later and many many tests later we found out it was bacterial overgrowth.  The doctor ordered a breath test the day before a colonoscopy, just to see.  He measured off the charts.  We gave him proboitcs, and a heavy duty medicine for two weeks.  We also had to cut out dairy b/c we also found out he was lactose intollerant.  Maybe from being sick for so long, or it was always a lactose intollerence - I don't know.  I do know how upsetting it is to not know what's wrong, and I'm sorry you all are going thru this, and your children.  All the doctors are hard, all the tests.  The ones they are awake for are the worst.  I understand how every meal becomes an issue, at 18 months old I had a newborn again with the diapers - and the rashes!  Bordreaux's butt paste worked the best.  Don't use wipes, use paper towels with warm water, then blot dry and use the cream.  It really helped.  Good luck - my son is still not 100%, maybe we'll always have food issues b/c I think he thought what he ate made him sick.  It probably did.  I hope everyone hear finds an answer.
