diarrhea?

i have 2 questions today. 1 is what exactly is diarrhea, is diarrhea only when you get the fully blown type when you run to the toilet every minute and poo out liquid all the time? or is diarrhea when you get a watery stool as in lots of little pieces going out at once. i had a watery stool this morning. does a watery stool have the same effect as fully blown diarrhea? does it take all the electrolytes and vanquish all lactose-digesting bacteria in the lower intestines (colon for americans)? i recently had a stool sample and the test results came back today, i've been having alot of diarrhea over the past 5 weeks and haven't been able to eat any food that i want and haven't recently caught the flu seeing my immune systems down due to not being able to eat nutrient-full food because it'll give me diarrhea. Back to the stool sample amazingly the results came back normal 100% nothing was found which astonished me. i usually stuff up my recovery because i go over to a friends house in the weekend and on friday and usually let loose there (not binge-drinking though i'm not that stupid). the doctor told me mainly in simplified words "no dairy, no deep fried food, and no fructose" I had apple juice yesterday and i think that is why i had a watery stool this morning. doc said it would be fine by monday if i don't eat the above 3? do you think he's right? he said dried biscuits, rice, soup, boiled/poached  chicken, and boiled/poached seafood is fine same with veggies. does any think theres anything wrong about this? i hope there isn't cause this guys top of the class $150 per visit (luckily it covers medicare) anyway tommorow a friends coming down from Melbourne and we're going to the sushi train do you think i'll be fine if i eat boiled the boiled prawns for example or the cooked tuna stuff? and if i don't eat any of the fried stuff? cause i don't want the bathroom to be my friends arch enemy if i get diarrhea. i hope i'll be fine if a doge the fried stuff, dairy and fructose.

Advice from your doctor seems to be appropriate, and if you stick with that diet, and the cause was lactose or fructose malabsorption, it should really help in three days.

The point is that the diet has to be strict.

Lactose is not only in dairy, but as an additive...elswhere..in chocolates, dry mixes, sauces...
Fructose is in all fruits (apples, pears, dates, figs, sweet cherries, pears are the worst!) From vegetables avoid asparagus, leeks, artichoke, onions and tomatoes, including  ketcup. Frozen and commercially breaded meats contain fructose. Packaged meats can be sweetened.

In short: no dairy, no fruits, commercial sauces/salad dressings, and no pre-prepared/tinned, packaged food at all - this is the easiest to remember.

After some time you'll see, if you have both lactose and fructose malabsorption or not.
