gall in the stomach

gall in the stomach

I recently had an endoscopy through my throat as well as a colonoscopy. The doctor found gall in my stomach. Is that normal? Especially after the intense cleansing prep? There was also a raw area in my duodenum that was biopsied. Should I be worried?

They usually biopsy anything they find in the stomach. I had a polyp negative in my stomach years ago. .

A small amount of bile in the stomach isn't considered unusual. However, if the amount was large, it could be caused by bile reflux. Bile reflux can be found in those with problems after gallbladder removal.

A 'raw' area in the duodenum can have a number of causes, one of which is a 'spill' of acid from the stomach to the duodenum and is suggested to be the result of an overproduction of acid. However, you'll have to wait for the results of the biopsy to know what the true cause is.
