Were you taking any of your medications for gastroparesis at the time of the test (or recently before the test)?
It was a 2 - 4 hour test. I had eaten eggs. Scanned every 15 minutes for 2 1/2 hrs and was told we were going to be there a while. After that I was scanned 1 hr later then 15 minutes later. Was told today that the results were in normal range. I don't understand I was diagnosed 10 years ago and have been on medications since. Now they are suggesting gastric pacemaker, but I am wondering if that will work since the results came in the normal range. I'm just frustrated and want to actually be able to eat a meal! Thanks for your input
I agree with christy. If you have a 4 hour gastric emptying scan, while not on any medications that would alter the results of the test, and the result was normal, then you don't have gastroparesis. However if you only had a 2 hour gastric emptying scan or you were on a medication that might help gastroparesis while during the test, then you might still have gastroparesis.
My son had it done, and the first 2 hours were fine, but he slowed down drastically over the next 2 hours. So he wouldn't have been diagnosed correctly if it was only a 2 hour test.
