What is causing severe diarrhea and nausea?

I have sudden severe stomach pains. These pains have gone on for about 5 years and strike intermittently (roughly 15 times per year) and cause severe diarrhea and nausea. Also, I have had diarrhea for about 16 weeks, not caused by these stomach attacks.

I am an 80 year old female in otherwise good health. I have modified my diet and cannot connect any foods with the onset of an attack. My doctors think it is IBS but I am not so sure. I have had an endoscopy, a colonoscopy, blood tests, lower bowel sonogram and all come back negative.

Welcome to the gastroenterology community!  I would recommend talking to your doctor about getting a stool test to see if that can determine why you are having diarrhea, which may be related to the stomach pains.
