Welcome to the gastroenterology community! What are all the tests he has had? How long has this been going on for?
he's had ct scans, upper and lower gis . They have also tested for parasites. We thought it was IBS. But it still doesn't fit his symptoms. He's been like this for almost a year now. It has gotten really bad these last six months
I know exactly what he has - the doctors will be surprised, too, because they think this is a woman's disease. He has interstitial cystitis. It's an inflamed lining of the bladder. The men in my husband's family all have it. The diagnosis is made by scoping up the ureter (is that correct?) into the bladder. OR, he can try following diet changes (no tea) which you can look up. My husband takes Urispas when an attack starts, sometimes that takes a while to work. He also has small gel heat packs that he holds on his testicles. It's a brutal attack, makes you feel so sorry for him.
I agree that the cause of the blood in the urine should be investigated. However, there is no way of knowing by someone's story on the internet, "exactly what he has". It is a possibility that he could have interstitial cystitis, but he needs to be evaluated for this by a doctor. I would also say that most doctor's know that this can happen to both men and women. Also, the diagnosis and treatment is not as easy as middlesoul makes it out to be.
we thought it was that to but he recently had his bladder looked at with a cystoscope and they didn't find anything?
That doesn't completely eliminate that possibility, but it makes it less likely.
we will look further into it. Thank you so much for your help
