pain in chest and throat, shortness of breath ect...

Hi I'm 28 years old and pregnant 24 weeks along I also posted a similar question in the heart disease forum and I have recently been to my doctor and emergency room with complaints of chest tightness all the way up to my throat, shortness of breath, heart palpitations (fluttering) constant burping (bloating in my upper stomach) and the feeling that something is in the throat.  I have also been feeling very weak and I should also add that I also suffer from anxiety and panic attacks as well.  I do feel that my anxiety is at an all time high right now especially because I don't know what is wrong with me.  My gen. practitioner pretty much said that the shortness of breath may be asthma and gave me an inhaler and told me to go on about my day.  The ER Doctor did a number of tests EKG, Liver enzyme, urine, something else to do with the heart and also but me on a heart monitor for a few hours to measure my pulse and everything came back normal. I have a friend that works in a hospital and she suggested that it may be GERD so I was wondering if anyone else has had these symptoms or could give me some insight Thank You

I guess he chose the med that was safest to take during pregnancy (so he says) =) I checked it out and it did say that it was safe to take while pregnant and that it is used for ulcers and gerd. thank you for your comment.

It is very rare for a doctor to prescribe that for reflux so maybe he was prescribing it for something else.  If it is like other reflux medications it should take only a couple of days to start working.

I just went to my doctor and he prescribed Cimetidine.  Do you have any idea how long this medication takes to start relieving these symptoms that I have been having? I started taking it last night and I'm supposed to take it twice a day

I have GERD and I've had some the symptoms you describe with it.  You can try taking over the counter prevacid or prilosec to see if they help.
