pancritis..hard lump

I don't even know for sure if I am posting this in the right forum..I believe I am. My father has chronic pancitis from alcohol abuse. He first got sick about 4 months ago. He was in the hospital for about 2 weeks...then they released him and gave him enzymes and a lot of other medicines. He quit drinking for the first 2 weeks after he was out of the hospitsl..but he started back up again after that. He keeps getting sick again(for like 2 -3 days) and then he feels okay again. However about 4 days ago, he started feeling pretty bad again. He also noticed that he has a lump in his abdomen(hard as a rock. He said it's not really tender, but that he is feeling ill in general and having pancratic pain.He has a Dr's appointment tomarrow...but he won't let anyone go with him..and he won't tell his Dr. he is drinking agin....Could the lump be related to him drinking again???My father is only 47 years old and I am so worried about him..Can pancritis be fatal???

I am so confused.  I have had pain on my upper left side and sometimes radiates around to my back and chest.  I can only eat small meals and acutally don't look forward to eating now..but it is stingy and dull achy all the time.  I have been watching it for three months and now it is constant.  I have alot of gas and constipation.  I did have a colonocscopy just six months ago and all is fine...I just don't get what is could be and blood work doesnt say anything except I need to go on a low cholestral diet.
I am about 15 lbs over weight 5' 3/4 at 168lbs so I need to excercise but I feel like my doc is not really trying to find out what is going on...
can you recommend any time of blood work that would tell me what is going on?

He could have developed pseudocysts on the pancreas.  After that intense pain from pancreatitis and having a family worried sick about him, he continues to drink?  His priorities are in the wrong place.

yes pancreatitis can be damgerous.  In order for your father's pancreas to heal he must quit drinking. and his doc's need to know he's drinking, have they really expained things to him?  I"m only 28 non drinker non smoker and i've had pancreatits 3 times and chronic pancreatic pain i can't imagine drinking on top of that it seems like it would set him on fire. Be as active as you can possibley be when it comes to his care. hopefully with support and love from his family he cant get thru this.
Keep ius informed on how he is doing.  If you have any other questions please feel free to post them there's alot of good people on here with alot of information that could help you.
