problems with coffee and urgent need for bm

I love coffee but recently I've been dealing with an urgency to have a bm after drinking my coffee. Its not quite diarrhea but pretty close to it. Is there anyway to prevent this from happening? It gets in the way while I'm at work. I know the best option would be to quit drinking my coffee but its the only way I can get through my day. Anyone have any suggestions or advice?

Hi, I have the same issue with coffee, if I have even half a cup, I suffer severe abdominal pain followed by watery stools.  Unfortunately, I've not found a solution, except missing out on my coffee!  I also don't like tea, so I very rarely have a hot drink now.  Not much help to you I know, except to say I know how you feel xx

I wouldn't say it is normal to have this happen, but it is heard of.  Coffee is a stimulant and it can help with things like constipation (although this isn't a recommended treatment for constipation) which is why it might be causing diarrhea for you.

I may have to try eating first. I normally have my coffee then an hour or two later eat. Is this a fairly normal ocurrence with coffee? The issue started fairly recently but its almost like clockwork now. Its very disappointing as I'm a coffe lover.

Ignore the now deleted post.  Yes the best think to do would be to quit drinking coffee but another thing you could try is to drink a bunch of water right before you drink your coffee.  This way the coffee is kind of diluted when it is being absorbed.  This might not fully help but it could make it so it is less urgent.  You could also try drinking the coffee on a full stomach.  These are just my best guesses as to what would help.

I noticed that you've been posting the exact same thing to every poster regardless of their symptoms.
