right upper quadrant pain and side

by mls0001, Jul 10, 2007 04:09PM
I have had a dull pain on my right side at the bottom of my ribs that wraps around to the side (but not necessarily the back).  Doctor ruled out gallstones.  What else could this be?

Hi mls0001 - It could be a fatty liver diagnosis...even though drs say that fatty liver doesn't present symptoms unless you have NASH which is a version of fatty liver where your liver is actually inflammed.  I was diagnosed with simple fatty liver without inflammation but I do feel some discomforts.  My thinking is this, even though the drs say that a simple fatty liver doesn't cause discomforts, if my liver isn't functioning properly, it will tell me...hence the discomforts.
