to anyone squamas cells?

i am a 40 yaer old female who just got out of the hospital and i got my test results on my own and my dr. is out of town for awhile and i need help.  i have squamous cells in my urine a count of 30. does anyone know what this means? also there are red and white blood cells in my urine and my blood test they are both to high. i found out i had 3 different places of hypdensity on my liver. i have been carrying hepatitis b for 15 years which i have been chronic and active.  my luekocytes are high and some other abnormalities.  i read about squamous cells and i don't understand this cell.  i do know that it is related to carcinoma cancers.  does anyone know if you have a high count of squamous cells in your urine what it could mean.  like i said my dr. is out of town for awhile and i been so sick i will follow up on this if anyone thinks i should.  i would love to understand squamous cells better and if it means cancer. thankyou so much to anyone who answers. THANKYOU ginny

Try this for the insulin-like gf-1 test: http://labtestsonline.org/understanding/analytes/igf1/test.html

To my knowledge, the squamous cells in the urine sample have little-to-nothing to do with anythng like squamous cell cancer. I could be wrong, but the type of wording in your report is typically only put there to tell the doc that the sample wasn't a 'clean' draw.

Ginny, I wish I could help you further, but I'm not sure where your doc is going with the testing that's been done. I'm not following his line of thought based on the tests you've mentioned. Both the red and white cells in your urine suggest that you definitely have 'something' going on there, and I don't think that's a simple UTI. It could be, and if it is you may be feeling lethargic due to some kind of inflammatory process. But the red cells really suggest that you're filtering process is compromised to some extent. Think of it as when the blood hits the kidney to get 'filtered,' it faces a 'series of very small-holed screens' and they're all in different orientations. So that the bigger particles (RBCs and proteins, etc) are kept within the blood, and everything else that is small and SHOULD be filtered out, goes through - along with a batch of water. So in your case, somehow some of that filtering system has 'larger holes' that it should, and RBCs are getting through. The thing is, this could be due to a low-grade kidney infection that you might have, or it could be that something that is going on is impacting your system in a manner it shouldn't, or? It's difficult to know without having all the facts and only your doc has those.

However, at the very least, you should call your doc's office and ask if you should be taking anything  -  if, based on the urine test, you might have a UTI or other low-grade infection. Even if your doc isn't in, he/she should have someone that is covering for them.

THANKYOU for writing be back how nice of you.  is it at all possible for the squamous cells in the urine to mean anything else? also with the red blood cells in my urine could it be just an infection or something else? they were also high in my blood test as well as white blood cells and lymphocytes. i have another question if you don't mind what is the insul-like gf 1 test? that came back low at 85   my mcv and mch were to low in the blood test as well.  i do have chronic hep b and it is active and i do have a tumor on my left lobe as we as a prominent hypodensity on the bilary tract and on the left side of the liver. any suggestions i am really feeling sick.

I can't comment on what all the results mean, but what I can tell you is that squamous cells are a kind of flat cell that is an epithelial cell - a kind of 'surface cell.' When these are seen in urine, it means the sample was contaminated during collection - the cup probably came too close to the vaginal tissues.

The red blood cells typically suggest that your kidneys are not having a easy time of things. They're a fairly large cell and should be 'filtered' back into the blood. So if they're coming through the kidney filtration process it means that for whatever reason your kidneys are taking a bit of a beating.
