trying to cut out gluten and lactose. need help

I noticed tonight after eating a small salad with cheese and ranch dressing and then some eggplant parmigan that I got all crampy and had diarrhea. I've been dealing with random bouts of diarrhea recently and my cousin was diagnosed last year with a gluten allergy. I know that it can be genetic so I want to try to cut out gluten. However I want to cover lactose intolerance too since I did have cheese and ranch tonight. Does anyone have any useful websites to help me figure out what needs to be eliminated from my diet? Or any personal advice? Lactose will be easy to eliminate but I know gluten can be tricky

To eliminate gluten, you'll need to take out all wheat, rye, barley and possibly oats out of your diet. Also, if a product says 'wheat-free' that does not mean gluten-free - that mistake is often made.

I think that's a good idea you're trying this.  For lactose, eliminate all milk, cheese, butter, yogurt, etc.  This means no pastries and certain breads.  If you go out to eat while trying to cut out lactose, you need to check for every item to make sure there is no butter.  Check the ingredients of everything you are eating at home.  Don't eat any whey.  Do this for at least 2 weeks to see if it helps your symptoms.

For gluten, you need to read the ingredients in everything and I mean everything.  I would recommend not eating out at all.  Things you wouldn't expect have gluten in them like soy sauce.  Don't share anything with gluten, toasters, spoons, etc.  It's really hard.  But luckily if you can find a good supermarket near you they have tons of gluten free options now a days.  They have pizza, baked goods, pasta, and bread.  The biggest tip I can give you for eliminating gluten is don't eat out and read all the ingredients on everything you eat.  Good luck.
