Hormone Shots

Hi. Im 14 and went to the doctor a few months back. Everything was good until they looked at my growth chart. They said there was a plateau on it where there was almost no growth. We went to have multiple tests done and they confirmed that im producing next to no growth hormone, or something of that nature. Over the last couple years, I noticed that my friends have been getting taller, while im not. They said that if I dont get hormone injections, my platelets? will close and i wont grow at all. I am considering it and am wondering if there are any severe side effects the medication may have. Im not sure what meds they are, just that they are hormones, and I have to rotate between 4 injection sites, 1 per day. Any help would be great! Thanks!

well i got a depo shot but thats a birth control i need to go get every 3 months but in your case, if the doctor recommended it to you then it should be fine. they need to give you a paper stating all the side effects and changes that it may cause and you have to read it carefully. If they don't give you a paper stating that then make sure you ask them any and every question you have about this medicine before they give it to you. And please make sure your parents know. Good Luck

researchers generally agree that treatment with human growth hormone is safe and effective. In 1985, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved a biosynthetic growth hormone

I'd suggest you find a Functional Diagnostic Nutrition practitioner, they'll probably figure out how to get your body to produce the necessary hormones naturally instead of injections. hope this helps :)
