Svere pain under lower left ribs

Hi,
Guys I need help,
While walking I fell by hitting an uneven sidewalk, immediately I felt severe pain under the lower ribs (about 2nd or 3rd rib from bottom). After18 hrs I went to Emergency Room since pain was not going away, an X ray was performed no fracture was noted and I was told every thing was fine. Pain did not go away therefore next day I went back to Hospital and CT Scan was performed the results were negative again, no pneumothorax or any injury to any organs was noted. I was given some pain medicine. The accident happened Monday 03/08/2010 and today is Friday 03/08/2010. I still have this severe pain and shortness of breath when I walk, move, sit-down, laydown or try to open door with left hand this pain very sharp and localize to  small are. I don’t know what this pain is, what tests are recommended to identify the cause of pain and how this pain can be cured. Due to this pain I have to sleep straight or on the right side, the movement during sleeping also causes severe pain.  I can't getup from bed by myself due to this pain.

Yes it does sound like a busted rib, I have had several broken Sailing, it takes ages to heal, I found that I would bind it firmly around for support, there are back braces you could use, it helps when you move ,take inflamatory med like advil, it will heal takes time, even a cracked rib will hurt, maybe they missed it on the Xray ..good luck

Since they did x-rays on you then you must not have a broken rib. I'm thinking you may have pulled a muscle when you fell. This would not show up on an x-ray. You may want to try putting heat on it. If this does'nt help then try cold. I hope you feel better soon. Remar
