premature gray hair

My 5 year old has straight, light brown hair. Lately I've noticed several white, kinky/wiry hairs growing out of his head? Everything I've seen online about premature gray hair mentions children 8 and up. Does anyone know if this is a symptom of an illness/disease in very young children?

My 12 year old daughter has the same hair type as your son. I have found several kinky tight curly grey hairs in her head also. She has eczema and is allergic to gluten. We need to get her checked for gluten intolerance. I don't know if these are related to the hairs. Maybe it is a copper difficiency. My child is on no medications and uses shampoo from Walmart.  Maybe someone can post more answers or suggestions. Thanks.

What kind of shampoo are you using on the child's hair?  Is the child on any medications at this time?
