My friend recently texted her CD4 cell count,it has only 86!She was very afriad and I worried about her very much. It is  said that if CD4 cell count<200,it's time to AIDS! How can she do!If she takes medicines on time, does CD4 cell count  increase? I hope someone can give me answers ,Thank you!

Your friend can absolutely raise her CD4 count if she takes her medicines as prescribed...in fact it is absolutely necessary for her to take the medications exactly as prescribed to prevent disease progression. That is why it is important for her doctor to ask and determine her willingness to comply with her medication regime prior to beginning it.  Encourage her as her friend to set timers, keep pill boxes and do whatever is necessary to take her medication as her doctor prescribes.  Also, although 86 is indeed a low CD4 count, physicians go by the number of immune related disorders and symptoms she exhibits before a diagnosis of AIDS.  I hope this helps relieve some fear.
