freaking out!!!!

First im glad to know im not alone and that there is support out here....well my issue is on 4/16 of this year i had unprotected sex with someone who lives near me...it lasted for about 5 min and he pulled out before ejaculation then a few hours later we did it again..5 min and then he pulled out before hand...Now im very pissed at myself for doing this..its way out of character for me.

I took a rapid blood test on 4/18 b/c after that episode it made me really think about things and about my past so i tested and it was negative..i was very relieved but then started freaking again b/c that test didnt count for the stupid mistake that i just made with this person i dont know where to turn it wont leave my mind.....im trying to wait at least until its been 4 weeks and then do it at 8 and then 12....i dont know what my risk is and i cant figure out how to calm down....im ok for a minute and then bam it hits me again...when i wake up it hits like a ton of bricks....

Im trying to pray and keep busy and i do realize i will not do this nonsense again but i sure dont want to lose my mind in the process....i've always been paranoid about stuff but i have to say this is really bad.....I've been all over the web...i've checked to see how many in my town have the disease....118 reported in a town of 23,000 and in the next town over 389 out of 32,000 people ....probably doesnt mean much but i just dont know what to do..i think im reading too much about this from too many places....

Can someone please please advise and give me and idea of my risk factor

Yes, your partner being AA could increase your risk somewhat. But based on your statistics you don't seem to live in a high prevalence area. Even if you did, the chance of your partner having HIV would probably be no higher than 1 in 20. If a partner has HIV, the average frequency of transmission (male to female) is 1 in 1000 exposures. So we're still talking about a 1 in 20,000 chance per exposure for someone with a risky partner. The odds are on your side.

A rapid test at 4 weeks would be about 90% accurate, so a negative at that time would be highly encouraging.

oh joggen....i was wondering would the fact that me and this man being African-American change the stats or make it more likely of him having this virus...b/c i've heard that it's a growing epidemic in this community...i meant to ask u also....what would the accuracy of a rapid blood test at 4 weeks be?....i dont know of anyone doing the combo or duo test in my area....thanks in advance....im trying not to ask too many questions.....i just keep thinking of more things....i appreciate this forum and your support

".i dont know what my risk is and i cant figure out how to calm down"

If your situation was as risky as you are apparently perceiving it to be, then half the population would have HIV. Your risk is actually close to zero, believe it or not. HIV is rare in heterosexual men and is also inefficiently transmitted. You are far more likely to get hit by lightning some time during your lifetime. Since you are anxious, have a 4th generation test (Combo or DUO) at 4 weeks. A negative result will be highly reliable at that time. Follow up with a test at 3 months for confirmation. You can expect negative results.
