lymph nodes due to hiv

I have been shot down from the prevention form by Teak, so I think/hope I can get some help here.

I had an exposure and have tested for it with 3 negative rapid tests, which according to this site, is conclusive.

I have had this big painless lump behind my left ear.
My question (putting aside my neg test) is, when lymph nodes swell due to hiv, do they persist for 4 months?
I have had this lump for 4+ months (thats when I first noticed it, im not sure if its been there longer or not) and it hasnt changed in size of texture at all.
And, is there usually just 1 or 2 nodes that swell, or would you notice the swelling in a lot of different nodes?

Thanks in advance for you help and input.

buds im not on 24/7  honestly i have a life to lol :-)

Rapid tests are used around the world because they are so accurate, infact i have had many of them myself.

Their is more chance of me giving child birth in the next 10 minutes than you having 3 false positives. Really you have zip to worry about.

Apollo,
You are one of the best people on this site.
So helpful and nice.
Thank you for all your help and time.

Last question..
Are rapid tests accurate in your opinion?
When you say impossible, is it still impossible for all 3 rapid tests to be false negatives?

Also, is it quite obvious to see if the TEST line shows up? Like, is the line usually always visible, or do you have to look long and hard to find it (very light).

Then your lump is normal and you have nothing to worry about. Your tests, well 3 false negatives - impossible and i mean impossible.

Everyone gets parnoid from time to time, but it will go more so when you have somthing more intresting to worry about.

Thank you again for your response.

I don't know why i am so paranoid even after so long.
I started doubting the accuracy of the rapid tests, since I came to this site. All 3 of the neg tests i got were from blood rapid tests.

Oh, and regarding the lump, it has NOT grown in size. It is the same size, shape texture as it was 4 months ago.

Hiya, hey no problem.

Yes the lump, really i have the same, no bone a lump by my right ear. Years ago i was freaked by it ( long story ) the doctor said its normal, he even showed me his and its bigger than mine. In fact i thought shite mate, you should see a doctor about that lol.

The fact the lump has only just appeared means its certainly nothing to do with HIV. Your nodes swell when you get an infection.. dont freak yet, a simple infection like the flu or somthing. Somtimes its nothing, but you should always see a doctor about them if concerned.

No, it would NOT take that long to show or sero. I cannot say whats wrong with you and i would say see a doctor if you really belive this is growing, because it could be a boil ( yes really ) it could be somthing else, or nothing or course.

What i can say is, its certainly not down to HIV and all, no chance in a zillion years. Even if and i mean IF, you had HIV, you would never know for years, you would have zip symptoms anyway. Thats why symptoms are pointless.

Crazy no, paranoid, yes a little buds but we all get that, its naturall. Education and unstanding is the key and you need take on board what you have been told and understand you test was fine and you dont have HIV buds.

Hi Apollo

THANK YOU for answering my questions. You're an angel, seriously.

A few more points/questions, if you don't mind..

When you say "everyone does", i am not talking about that hard bone behind both of our ears. It has a name, not sure what its called.
The lump i have behind ONE of my ears is just that, a hard lump (maybe the size of quarter or a little bigger).

Also, I am worried because I tested for my exposure last year since my exposure was that far back. but i have only in the past few months discovered this lump. When i felt it, i automatically thought hiv!

Am I crazy?
Could it take that LONG to show symptoms and seroconvert?

Hiya well your first mistake is to ingnore your test results because that is very important for a few reasons.

1. You may actually be ill and need to see a doctor, but beliving its HIV could prolong the illness, but of course it could be nothing.

2. Your result tells you everything you need to know, ie you dont have HIV so anything that is wrong with you cannot be from HIV, thats why you should never ingnore your test results.

To answer your question thou. If you had hiv and your nodes increased in size, it would not be just one it would be your whole body and they would be like golf balls. The lump by ear is normal, i say that because i have one and everyone does. It would also not last 4 months for sure, 2 weeks maybe 3 max. Also if your swelling was due to HIV you would have tested positive for certain and i mean certain - 100%

So you can see, HIV swelling is nothing like yours at all and your tests were fine buds, you dont have HIV
