High risk exposure

I had a condom burst situation with a african Tanzanian prostitute which I know it is very risky situation for me and after six weeks and 9 weeks I was tested by hiv 1 2 & p24 combo test cmia which both came out negative I know 12 weeks or more will be conclusive and I will go and test again after 12 weeks but iam scared that this combo test will miss certain types of african hiv subtypes and strain . So please recommend me a type of test that I can rule out every type of african subtypes and strains.

We are now closing this discussion as we've given you all the information we can here.  Based on your time frame given, you should be near or past the 12 week mark and take your final test.  A doctor should guide you from here.  We wish you the best.

I was trying to move on after 12 weeks neg and iam no longer concern about rare strains but following 8 weeks after exposure I have developed some folliculitis like bumps on back and few on chest and one in my arm and they leave a dark mark after they heal & I have read that folliculitis are usually seen in hiv primary patient and after 12 weeks now iam down with sore throat and mild fever and body ache....iam having a hard time moving on with my life,my life is ruined.

You are asking questions no one here is remotely qualified to answer which is why we have advised you to seek out the advice of an HIV Specialist. We ALL wish you the very best outcome, but there is nothing more we can tell you.

We have all attempted to give you the most accurate assessment of your risk, we have explained to you that African HIV sub-types and the correct testing protocols for them are beyond the scope of this forum and we have advised you to speak with an HIV Specialist who IS knowledgeable regarding your concerns.

I have located a site from the NCBI.....The National Center for Biotechnology Center that addresses your particular concern. This information is SO far over my head and most likely over the head of everyone here, that once again we advise you to seek out an HIV Specialist in African HIV sub-types.

The title of this paper and the link to it's complete text is listed below.

We all wish you peace of mind.

I'm afraid that the information you are seeking regarding African HIV subtypes is far beyond the scope of what MedHelp can offer. You can Google some basic information, but if you're concerned about a possible exposure, you need to speak with an HIV specialist well versed in the testing protocol for each subtype. They WILL have answers for you. I wish you the best.

Should I just have faith in my combo test or any antibody test or do I need to take up pcr  DNA test etc
Please help me iam dying of fear and anxiety depression and what not
As RubyWitch stated, the information you're seeking is beyond the scope of this forum, and we suggest contacting an HIV specialist.  While it is HIGHLY unlikely that you were exposed to and contracted a rare subtype, I understand the desire to be certain.  The combo test is very good and rules out almost all subtypes, and that test is conclusive already.

There isn't anything more anyone on this forum can tell you.
Thank you curfewx your answer meant so much to me and I gave me a huge relief especially when I have no one to talk to about all this things
Hi curfewx  hiv combo test detect only group m and o?  Or I includes all the group m n o p?
In response to your inbox question about her test:
You tested with the same test she would have used so if she had a rare subtype that you fear, it would not pick up the rare HIV in her either. Therefore there is no need to see her test since your test has already shown that you don''t have HIV other than possibly the rare one that you fear.
Sorry, I just thought of one last thing. There are lots of other rare and not rare diseases that you might have but you don't test for any of them, so there is no purpose in worrying about the possibility of rare HIV either, otherwise you will have to spend your whole life testing for diseases every day.

Modern tests rule out almost all, if not all, strains of HIV.  If you have concerns, you should consult a medical professional.

Thank you for your answer yes I did consult a doctor but I did not tell him the girl was african he told me to get and an antibody test at 12 weeks. What keep me in fear and anxiety is this whole african subtypes and strains
How reliable will be a 9 weeks combo test?
Experts in the field of HIV diagnosis and treatment state that the combo test is 99.89% conclusive at 4 weeks post-exposure (and any time thereafter).  There are few tests for any disease that have that high level of accuracy.
I miss my good old days couple of weeks post the incidence my life has been turned into complete disaster and also I have lost some weight and it will leave a huge scar for the rest of my life... drunkenness and few minutes of sex has ruined my life really not worth it
If she provided the condom then she probably does every time so the chances would be low that she would have HIV - also she might get tested once in a while so if positive she likely wouldn't waste money on condoms.
Right but you can never trust one and also if you look at the demographic and epidemic of Tanzania and africa
