Saliva is not a risk. Nor is blood mixed with saliva a risk. If you must, take your test, collect your negative results and move on.
You give me courage to get tested, I need It because I'm freaked out.
Teak: but just tell me this: the only thing neede is just for him to have blood on his mouth (not much) and then we had anal sex with that saliva...
It may be a risk, why do you keep saying no?
You didn't have a risk. PERIOD. All the spins you want to apply isn't going to change it. NO RISK.
Lasts days have a very rigid neck (painfull) on right side, now I can touch lymph nodes in posterior cervical (add them the submandibular and others in neck). Rash on neck that has been there for 4 days. This resembles mono, even one told me to test for EBV, now I'm a few days from 6 weeks and I should take the test. I know all the odds and statistics, but every exposure is unique, plus with these symptoms, the timing, my clinic history (never had swollen glands before), I know what to expect.
And I'm not talking about rimming alone, it's rimming (pehaps blood in saliva) and anal sex after that. It may be the equivalent to anal sex without condom if saliva+blood was present in the anus previously. Please think about it.
You make me feel better (at least for a while) thank you. I like to comment that I read a lot of places where it says low risk, despite no "documented cases".
Nobody has ever been known to catch HIV by kissing, fingering, etc--even with blood exposure.
Lymph nodes in neck/submandib. are greater, sore throat is in both sides now, my neck is at times really stiff, rRash is like red flat bumps over my back...
Never had lymph nodes enlarged, never!!!!!!!
I didn't test yet.. 5 weeks have gone since exposure... don't have the courage yet...
I know being rimmed and then protected anal carries almost no risk, think been infected on purpose perhaps with blood from mouth...
You don't get HIV from be rimmed. You had protected anal sex. You did not have a risk.
check your messages stillworried74 ;)
Sorry: "Still everybody thinks NO risk?"
Still everybody thinks now risk?
A rash now.... That's exactly what i need if it's not hiv...
Well well well.. red now rash on my back... sore throat almost gone, lymph nodes still swelling
Ok, you saw it, sometimes it's difficult to accept you're negative.
Freaks!!!!!!
:)
Thank you.

1-There have been no recorded cases of getting HIV from rimming or being rimmed.
2-For vaginal or anal sex the HIV risk can be minimized if a latex condom is used properly and dose not fail
Your anal sex was condom protected and the condom stayed in tact, so no risk for HIV from that.
Look at this response from Dr. Bob: "risk is minimal at best" (he didn't say no risk)
Rimming Risk

Dear Dr. Bob,
I've posted this question a few times, and I know you're busy, so I'll post it again.
I had an encounter with an HIV+ man one week ago. He rimmed me and then we had protected anal sex (I was receptive), no ejaculation. I feel really dumb about it as I put myself at risk even knowing about it before hand. I definitely plan on getting tested in the next few months, but I would just like to know if you think the risk of this encounter was high? I am mainly concerned about saliva on the outside of the rectum entering when the penis was inserted. Thanks.
S
Response from Dr. Frascino
Hello S,
There have been no recorded cases of getting HIV from rimming or being rimmed.
For vaginal or anal sex the HIV risk can be minimized if a latex condom is used properly and dose not fail. HIV cannot pass through intact latex. Having saliva on the outside of the rectum before the latex-sheathed condom was inserted would not be considered a risk for HIV transmission. Consequently your overall risk of HIV transmission is minimal at best.
I hope that helps.
Dr. Bob

There are a number of possible mechanisms that have been suggested, which might explain why saliva seems to be so good at destroying HIV. Specific enzymes present in saliva may be important, or the effect of antibodies in saliva. Additionally, the saliva is "hypotonic" and has a tendency to disrupt any cells which may be floating around in it. It's pretty much certain that it's the combination of these factors that mean HIV is not transmitted in saliva.
It may seem strange that such a dangerous virus can't survive in something as "harmless" as saliva. In fact, saliva is a part of the body's natural defences against infection. Additionally, remember that the HIV virus is actually quite fragile.
You did not get HIV from the situation you describe
I undestood that, but you don't need to see blood, only in a relation 1/100 (blood/saliva) the risk would be very high, even more than semen
The short answer is that saliva virtually never carries any infectious HIV at all
It does carry detectable "components" of HIV (such as viral RNA and proviral DNA), but these are not infectious on their own. The environment that saliva provides is far too harsh for infectious particles to remain intact and viable.
He used saliva as a lubricant when starting, then salive entered my anus.
The only thing that's left is small drops of lood in saliva could rise hiv load in the fluid, and the anus is very receptive for it, you know, plus my symptoms..
Your anal sex was condom protected and the condom stayed in tact, so no risk for HIV from that.
And you are way off in saying that a small amount of blood coming into contact with the outside of your anus is the same as full ejaculation inside your anus in terms of HIV. That's wrong. The likelihood he even had blood in his mouth is small. He would have literally had to been gushing blood the entire time which you would have noticed. No risk for HIV from the situation you describe.
