4th gen test without p24?

Is it possible for a test to be 4th gen without the p24 antigen?i've just contacted aids helpine and they told my that the test at hospitals in greece is a 4th gen test but they don't look for the antigen unless it's for blood donation..so I asked them...if the test was 3rd gen..and they said no...is it possible to have 4th gen reactors and choose not to examine for the p24?

I think that negative DUO at 52 days will not change at 84 days--you're negative.

Rainlover...it was indeed a 4th gen test...i asked a doctor at the hospital..friend of mine...i'm waiting till tuesday for my 84th day results...and I already have a negative duo test at 52 days after my high risk exposure...so....what do you think?

They always look for both--thats why it's called a DUO test.

I will agree with that...after these days of searching i think that I know more than her...one final question...the reactors are 4th gen...i know that...the thing I don't know is this...is it possible to use the equipment without searching for the antigen?or a 4th gen reactors have to run a test for the p24?is it possible to run only the antibody part of a 4th gen test?..or they search for the antigen on a different platform..?

Those people on helplines don't know anything about HIV,most of them have basic knowledge about the subject.

I hope it will be rainlover...thanks for the support..do you think that the thing that the helpline told me can be true?4th gen test without looking for the antigen?i mean..they have the equipment...and they use it for the blood donations...what's the point in having 4th gen reactors(abbott) but don't test for the antigen?i thought that 4th gen reactors by definition test for the p24 antigen...i told the helpline that if they don't search for the antigen it's a 3rd gen test...and the lady replied that it is a 4th gen....ignorance?

I know that also...i've done this test at 52 days....and I am planning to get tested tomorrow ..at 84 days for my conclusive test...but I was really nervous before ...when I thought that I had a duo...now I am even more nervous..i don't know what to expect tomorrow..i've read so many replies from the expert forum..and with the duo I would be more confident for tomorrow..now I think I am at 98% but still...after a high risk exposure odds mean little..do you think i'll have a surprise tomorrow?

Why does it matter? 3 month antibody test is conclusive.
