5 weeks of diarrhea and nausea

Well, I am going in for a 44 day post exposure hiv test on the 15th of october.

On september 1st I had received unprotected oral sex from a young black female, I am a male.

Within 4 or 5 days I started feeling nauseated and bloated. Day 8-10 worst diarrhea I ever had, just like someone turned on the faucet.

From about the 8th day on I have been experiencing headache, nausea, very very soft stool, muscle weakness and soreness, some fatigue but not bad, sore testicles, sore neck muscles, sore to burning sensation in lymph nodes in neck, under arms, groin area. Have some what of a sore throat, not really sore but irratated. If I'm in a warm room doesn't bother me as much as when I breath cool to cold air. I have also had other symptoms, but can't remember what they are right now.

Questions:

1.) How encouraging would a 6 week negative test be?

2.) What are the chances of acquiring hiv from this one time, 2 minutes or less, episode?

3.) Should I be tested for any oyher std's that you might suggest?

4.) Do hiv symptoms normally last this long?

I appreciate your response and all you do on here for all us worry warts.

Thanks, hoping to write back with a big,
WOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOO

Concerned in Pa.

I forgot to say that even the swollen lymphs I had on my neck, appeared to be not swollen lymphs, as my doc said. He said they are old lymphs which swolled long time ago, but they didnt restored to their original size

Man, before yesterday I got my negative after a 71 days oral sex exposure, however, I still have many symptoms( lymph nodeds in the neck, fatigue, pain in the groins, headaches, rash on the chest ....) I went to the Doc and he assured me after a full check that all  these sypmtoms are not related to any STD, even the rash on the chest he said its alergy. But the bad news now that I had a syphilis positive test. the Doc described me Rmycin 100. Again anxety, but much much lighter than that one I had for HIV. Now I have to go back to Qatar, where my wife and 3 children, and I have to arrange for testing them all for syphilis in another country. I paid a lot from my nerves and money for a stupid behavior.

Can any body respond to my concerns above?

Really looking for some relief from this dilema.

I want to thank everyone for all the concern and support.

I do have a question though, if you started having symptoms at 8 days would you have enough detectable anti bodies at 6 weeks to show up in a test if you are still having symptoms, or do you have to wait for the symptoms to go away, which would mean very numerous and detectable?

The only reason I am asking is because I am still having plenty of symptoms for no apperant reason. Still have headache, sore lymph nodes in neck, and groin, burning sensation to the left of my navel.

Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

6 weeks negative for oral sex is conclusive! congrats! Don't you feel better now? You can test at 3 months if you like, but expect to waste money because you are going to get the same result. Negative Negative Negative.

Thanks for the congrats, really appreciate it.

I believe your right, about confirming it with my mind.

I felt such a relief to get those negative results at 44 days, but the mind just won't let me calm down. Even though everything I read tells me of my low/no risk encounter. I do feel relieved and a little better in the fact that no one has testewd positive after a 6 week negative test. ust want to reassure myself though. I will keep posting, trying to assist others on here as well.

Thanks again

congrats on the negative result...hope this eases your mind.

these results are 100% accurate...only because you were not at risk anyway.   there is really no need to retest...but...i find that alot of ppl still do not believe their "no risk" status, and they need that last test to confirm things in their mind.

Well I have received my 44 day test results, and they are negative Thank God.

Now How reliable is that test, and should I have the 3 month test?

I am already planning the test, but would really like some advice on this.

I am confused on why a low risk encounter negative test is so meaningful, and why a 3 month high risk test is conclusive? What's difference?

Thanks to all who replied, hope to offer some of my own advice as it is neede.

Well< I went in for my 44 day test, and now I almost wishing I didn't. Kinda driving me crazy now. Will probably have results back by end of week, so I will post results as soom as I get them.

I am more nervous now than I was before. I know I will never let this happen again. Life is way to short to have this kind of stress.

Can someone tell me how silly I am being, and everything will be ok.  I have read countless threads and articles about how low/no risk receiving fellatio is, but all these symptoms keep telling me other things.

Thanks again.

Thanks for all the input. Tomorrow is the day for test, 44 day mark.

I just wish the dry itchy sore throat deal would go away. Plus the diarrhea.

I just need some sort of encouragement, not that everyone on this site hasn't help. Just need at least a negative blood test. If there is anymore advice or council I could use it. Thanks again everyone.

Thanks for all the encouragement, just one more question. If the young lady had a high viral load when she gave me oral, would that raise the chances of acquiring hiv, or is the chance just as low as before?

Thanks to all once again.

HHH says its 95% by 6 weeks 99% by 8 weeks I believe. There the only ones I remember.

And 3 months will be conclusive.

Thanks for the reply, and encouragement.

I guess my biggest concern is the waiting for the test, then the results.

That was my only exposure, the receptive oral, l now 43 days ago.

do you know where the stats are that I have read about on here, that give the percentages oh "Time To Positive HIV Test" are.

I have read those on here before, and now can not locate them.

It goes through week by week of the test percentages.

Thanks

If the exposure listed above is the only thing in question, than your 6 week test will be conclusive! Oral is no risk!!! Get tested if you want to. Let use know how everything goes. If you have any further questions don't be afraid to ask!
