7 week negative, is this reliable.

Hi, I am a female of 21 years old. This summer on 9 of august, I had a unprotected sex which lasted 3 minutes. He came inside me. I had just met him and he did not seem like seem like he had hiv.Anywa I was paranoid. I did not have any early symptoms like fever, swollen lymp nodes or diarrhea. Around 5 weeks after the exposure, I developed an oral thrush and went to my doc, he said I had candida, and recommended I take  Hiv test.
I called the guy I had sex with since we still kept in touch, and asked him if  I should be worried. He said he had tested three months before we had sex and I should be fine, but since I was paranoid, he got mad at said that I should go ahead and test.
I tested at 7 weeks for the antibody test, I live in Norway, assuming they use high generation tests. The result was NEGATIVE. I knew about the window period and asked the doc if it is necessary to take another test and he said, it was not. My question is can an overgrowth of candidiasis cause a false negative result? Is my 7 week negative result conclusive, should I put all this behind me?
We are still in touch with the guy that I had the encounter with. Please reply Doctor. Thankyou.

Are you saying that if I am infected the p24 will not pick up the virus?

No. A P24 can not give you a conclusive test result. A P24 test is a supplemental  test that has to be followed with an antibody test. A P24 window period is 1-4 weeks post infection. You needed to take an antibody test.

Happy holidays everybody. I waited to test completely outside the window period to be 100% sure about my status. I tested negative on rapid P24 today. its 4 months and a half now. Is this conclusive? I hope I can put this behind now....

Your test as Lizzie Lou has said is a good indication but most doctors will tell you that it will be highly unlikely that your result would change at 3 months unless you have had another risky exposure since your 7 week negative test, test at 12 weeks for your conclusive result, you will be ok, use this as lesson, you cant tell someone has HIV by looking at them, use a condom, sex lasts for minutes HIV a lifetime, good luck!

try reading the forum...most every post on here backs up what i just stated.

3 months post exposure is when one can obtain a conclusive test result.

I know that was a lame excuse to judge someone by appearance alone. I will take a test again 12 weeks just to be sure and at ease. Please if anyone else can give an incite on this will appreciate. Thanks Lizzie.

" I had just met him and he did not seem like seem like he had hiv "

let me tell you something...if you met my son...he would NOT seem like he had hiv either...BUT HE DOES.

the CURRENT guideline states 3 months post exposure for a conclusive result.  your test at 7 weeks is a very good indication of your status...but it is NOT conclusive.
