97% at 3 months what about the other 3%

What can cause delayed antibody responses?!?! what separates those 3 individuals out of 100 that would cause they to seroconver late...? say someone was "healthy" they would most likely develop antibodies normally?!? (No IV user, non-drug user, no STDS, negative Hep. A, B, C... heterosexual) i tested negative at 92 days... i dont drink or smoke...?? i was just wondering what the chances are...

Chris, there's another! please do something.......need I say I have hep b and all symptoms? I have just had enough for tonight.....
so let's just change the CDC guidelines and 3 months is good only when you're perfectly clear and zero exposure, and when you have ALL symptoms and hepB you're HIV+ right?
  oh God, tough night !

There are no exceptions to a conclusive negative result. The manufacture when updating their tests decreased the window period, then the FDA approves it. It is now 3 months, and until the manufacture and the FDA make the change, it will still be 3 months. The CDC has nothing to do with the changes of the window period.

Dear  sir,
Do you know something is important for everyone that FDA take the information from CDC ......
And CDC has put 1 year as window period before and now 6 month and after that  3 month becasue they say 6 month for very rare case and as we know the world doesn't take the very rare cases becasue as Dr HHH said there is exception for every siuation .
We don't know what will CDC put window period soon.......
Thanks.

Do you have a risk you want to talk about or do you want to argue the testing guidelines? You know what the testing guidelines are in the US. You know or should know what each tests says about their OWN tests. So there is no need for anymore of your discussion on this. Three months is when one can get a CONCLUSIVE NEGATIVE result. PERIOD. No ifs ands or buts about. So drop it. You don't have the authority or does anyone else to change the guidelines set by the manufacture and the FDA.

Dear all,
Really , it is enough to stop this subject .....
I have already post a reilable posts before and they not from mine , but from the famouse Centers in our world, And as I have said there is no 100% in the medically terms and i will proof that for everyone .go and read this: which there is NO 100%   go and read that
http://www.aidsmeds.com/articles/HIVtests_4714.shtml.

And trust me ( when someone say 98% that is mean 100%).
As my opinion , becasue there is incompitable information about window period ..trust me the minumum level which they all agree about is 25 days for average rate pf people and 6 weeks or 8 weeks maximum fro healthy people. CDC said that. and I will proof that for everyone. you can read what CDC has said  here:

They said:
"This time period is commonly referred to as the “window period.” Most people will develop detectable antibodies within 2 to 8 weeks (the average is 25 days). Even so, there is a chance that SOME individuals will take longer to develop detectable antibodies." they said.

BUT:

Did anyone ask CDC who are they that they are SOME people???? of course no one.

however..... Mass answer on that who are they people .

they said " Most people will test accurately for HIV after 6 weeks have passed since their last risk.       In VERY RARE cases where a person HAS a highly compromised immune system, such as those in which a person has recently undergone chemotherapy or an organ transplant, it MAY take 3-6 months for their body to develop enough antibodies to test positive. These are very EXTERM situations, however, and other more common conditions such as colds or the flu, diabetes, asthma, and many others, will not affect the body's development of HIV antibodies in that way. Those who suggest window periods longer than 6 weeks are trying to account for all those who may also have compromised immune systems." they said.

Now we all agree that Mass never ever say something is satisfied for everyone unless they sure what they were talking about..

In the end I THINK as DR HHH SURE no more of 8 weeks.

Hope that will help everyone.

i thought you were a med student. Seems to me you would have connections to be able to do research.Instead of coming to a forum were you know no one. 3 percent is low for seroconversion and nothing is never 100 percent in the medical field

Well, the Doctor and the Nurse at a clinic in London that do HIV research say 3 months negative antibody testing is conclusive and that takes into account people with pre-existing low immune systems.. They said there are always people who question if they are one of the 5 percent, 1 percent, 0.1 percent, the 0.01 percent the  0.00000001 percent and it's really unnecessary. They said if the immune system is that low the patient would know about it.

The Doctor at the clinic I went to at 28 days post possible exposure said as symptoms were present antibodies would likely (unquantified likelihood) have shown up at that stage. A post by one of the Doctors on this site (all who are reknowned HIV specialists) here corroborates that, they said something along the lines that the ARS process is the result of the combination of virus and antibody response.

Your 92 day test would be conclusive and that would cover even if they have earlier generation test systems. Read that as "You Do Not have HIV". Practice safe sex from now on.

The other 3% is of no concern to you. You are not in that 3% category.
