Massage from HIV positive masseuse

Hi I've been getting massages on a weekly basis over the past 6 months. The massages are generally deep tissue and have been offered masturbation afterwards with refusal. I didn't think much of it as it only happened the first few times. Anyway to cut a long story short I went back to get my regular massage and my masseuse was away and the receptionist told me that she has been diagnosed as HIV+. I noticed after a few massages in the past with her I had burst/cut pimples as well as some superficial cuts. Is it possible to contract HIV or any other disease in this way assuming she had cuts or abrasions on her hands or fingers?
Thanks and concerned

Hi Teak,

I apologize but I just wanted to share on what my GP told me that's all, I thought it would be a reasonable discussion as he felt a test was necessary that's all. I'm sorry if I'm time wasting and many apologies

I have to see him again next week in regards to something else and run it by him again. I was surprised with the answer he gave me but did say if blood from an open wound crossed with a wound from her hand there is a remote chance. I'll get some clarity and now worried a bit

No disrespect to him but if he advised you to test then he doesn't know much in the way of how HIV is transmitted.

Then why do you think he would suggest a test ?

Your doctor is being ultra conservative--you don't require a test.

Hi guys just wanted to let you know that I saw my doctor for a different reason and mentioned the situation and he suggested I should get tested after three months even though he expects a negative result but just on the side of caution to get it done. He said from a wound to wound contact such as in this situation it's basically no cause for infection but can't rule it out entirely as blood may have "crossed". Any thoughts ??

Has nothing to do with HIV plus you never had an exposure.

Hi, just one more thing I forgot up mention. Over the last month or do I've had 3 instances of ringworm. Prior to this I've never had a case of it. Could it be related or just a coincidence ?
Thanks :)

Hi Lizzie Lou,

Thanks for your quick response and it's much appreciated. It was just a bit of a shock to hear the news. I hope the masseuse is dealing with her prognosis. I was just a bit concerned as she probably gave me at least 30 deep tissue massages and on a few occasions I had bleeding pimples. So no concern for transmission even if she had cuts ?

NO

HIV is not transmitted outside it's host, the body.
