unprotected sex and scared, need help/advice?

Hi everyone,
I'm worried sick been stressing ever since this happened and I just wanted opinions and to see if maybe anyone has ever made a dumb mistake like me. I previously went on vacation to Dominican Republic about 4 weeks ago and had unprotected sex and he ejaculated in me. I'm just worried that maybe god forbid I'll have hiv later on down the road I think about it everyday and it's literally eating me alive! I've known him all my life but I still don't trust anything, I got tested when I got back and everything was negative I made him get tested too and everything was negative as well. I haven't had any symptoms but I'm just going insane! any suggestions? help?

Well it is good he tested negative, as of course you too. I would go again st 3 months! Just in case he was with someone and your not sure, maybe you can ask him? From what I learned....The hiv 4th gen test is the newest and very sensitive. You'll be okay.

That is bad advice which is why a previous thread of RachL93 was closed by MedHelp moderators.

4th generation test is conclusive after 28 days, so if "he" was tested 28 days after his last unprotected exposure then  no further testing needs to be done. If you don't trust "he" or he won't let you see his result then you can do your own test at 28 days and get a conclusive result.
End of issue. Multiple testing is abnormal, so if you feel like going this route, perhaps a better idea might be therapy to deal with HIV phobia.
I'm sorry but how is that bad advice? EVERYONE says 3 months is conclusive even with 4th gen, it states to be done at 3 months if you test negative before that timing....
Your just rude.
Neither bit of advice was bad.  4th generation tests are considered conclusive at 28 days by experts in the field.  The CDC is more conservative (and they don't update their guidelines as often as doctors in the field do) and states 3 months.  It's down to personal preference.  The OP can either accept the 4th generation results any time after 28 days, or choose to test at 3 months.  6 months is, however, outdated.

you have tested negative and he did as well!
Chances are you are negative!
I would get one more done if I were you just to be sure! I have a feeling you are hiv free :)
