Am i one of those rarest who will test +ve only after a year ????

Hello dr. HHH ( sorry for the short name)
this is my first question to you. i Had a risky sexual encounter 1.5 yrs ago ( it was with CSW) . I tested with rapid elisa just 5 days after it and it came out negative. i even carried out the haemoglobin test The results were as below :

Haemoglobin : 16.90 gm / dl recommended 14 to 18 gm /dl.
WBC Count : 5900 /ul recommended : 4000-11000 /ul
Monocytes = 3% recommended 2 to 6 %

After 1.5 yrs i again went for above tests Results were as below :
HIV Test Negative( No Anti Bodies detected.)

Haemoglobin : 15.60 gm / dl
WBC Count : 7800 /ul
Monocytes = 1%

Even though negative HIV test result i fear i am the one of those rares who will take years to seroconvert.

Given the WBC count is that possible with me?
Also i have lerant that sharp fall in monocytes is one of the reason for HIV infection.

I have following questions :
1. Is my negative test after 1.5 year reliable ?
2. my monocytes count is below normal o does it means hiv is killing monocytes inside me ????

This count has really worried me..If that is not the case what migth have cause the descrease is monocytes count below normal ?

Please help me dr. HHH

CBC says nothing about infection status either way. I was just pointing out you interpret almost a year and a half as a period when there was a 'sharp drop'. The period is too long for this to be considered a sharp drop.

If you can't accept your results you should see a psychiatrist.

What do you mean by "a sharp fall is one in a short period"? Does WBC fall when newly infected?

I don't think either of the Doctors on the experts' forum would try and interpret your CBC in any way other than it means nothing either way as to the possibility of HIV infection.

Your test results trump anything else and by a long shot, a 66 week long shot. Youv've tested to 6.5 window periods

There's no need even to ask the place where you tested unless you have had a new risk. I thinky you would be wasting their time when they have medical patients and people with possible new infections to deal with as a priority.

See your own GP/PCP about your CBC. A sharp fall is one in a short period this is over a year and a half.

THE BEST THING FOR YOU TO DO IS GIVE ME THE 100$ AND I'LL WRITE YOUR RESULTS OUT ON PAPER FOR YOU AND THE MONEY WILL GO TO GOOD USE.

NEGATIVE-NON REACTIVE HIV1/HIV2 VIA ELISA-ANTIBODY

THIS ADVISES THE PATIENT THAT HE/SHE HAS NO DETECTABLE ANTIBODIES AT THE TIME OF TEST, DUE TO THE CONCLUSIVE WINDOW PERIOD IF TEST WAS TAKEN WITHIN THREE MONTHS SINCE POSSIBLE INCIDENT OCCURED, ANOTHER WILL NEED TO BE CONDUCTED AT APPLICABLE TIME.

SHES RIGHT DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY. THE DOCTOR IS GOING TO SAY THE SAME THING AS SHE HAS SAID. I WILL NOW SAY THE SAME. YOU TEST PASSED THE CONCLUSIVE TIME AND THE SYMPTOMS YOU ARE EXPERIENCING HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH HIV. IF YOU STILL DOUBT THIS ADVICE, YOU CAN GO WASTE YOUR 15 DOLLARS AND THEN WASTE ANOTHER 85 DOLLARS AT A HEALTH CLINIC, BECAUSE YOU PROBABLY WON'T BELIEVE THE DOCTOR AND YOU'LL TEST AGAIN, I'M SURE.

go to the "ask a doctor" forum under forums.  it is in the right hand column.  you pay your $15.00...and ask away.

this is not the doctor's forum...sorry :(

i would save my $15.00 though...your test is waaaaaaaaaaaay past what is recommended for a conclusive result.  you do NOT have hiv and do not need to test any further.
