Anxious…Should I test again for HIV/STD

Dr HHH,  I am a male 36yrs (uncircumsized, straight, monogamous with a clean sexual background) living in US. 15 weeks back I had a low-risk exposure (Open mouth Kissing 3-4 secs with Saliva exchange, HJ 6-8 secs – I did not ejaculate and my hand rubbed on stripper’s vagina once 3 secs) exposure in a strip club in US. I was depressed with my behavior and anxious and went to my FP on day 3. He said its low risk but looking at my anxious nature he ordered a HIV screening test (no STD panel), came back -ve. I felt this was not required on day 3 as I knew my status, but anyhow. My FP told me I can continue my sexual life as is with my wife as there is zero risk of any STD. On day 5,  I developed two pimples 3 inches below my navel. I ignored them. On week 3, I developed lesions on my foreskin after sex with my wife (she is –ve and does not have any STDs). I went to my doc and got Doxy for week and the lesions subsided. Since then I have used protection.

On day 39 after the exposure I got a Roche Elecsys p24 Ag/Ab test done. This was in abroad (India) while I was on business trip, came back -ve. Pretty reliable, I thought.

Right around week 10 I started getting fever, body aches with Pharyngitis. I do have a tonsils problem and get Pharyngitis and/or Sinus infection on an average 3 times a year. I went to my FP on day 79 (11 weeks 2 days) and he looked at my throat and ordered Amoxicillin. He also ordered for a HIV screening, Syphilis test and a CBC. All came back negative with normal CBC (WBC count 8.7).

Later, the Pharyngitis got worse and I had to take a dose of Augmentin after my Amox dose. With Augmentin it subsided, but I developed Allergic Rhinitis (as my sinuses cleared) and also started having mild eye infection (1st right eye and the then left). Since last two days I started having discomfort near my groin and passed a few drops of blood late last night with urine.

Today, I went for a Urine analysis and CBC and CMP. I got my urine analysis showing bacteria and (WBC count at 15.5) – increase from week 11 to 15. Now, my FP has called in for another antibiotic for UTI. I need to go back and collect the reports. I read UTI in males is rare.

My questions:
1. Should I be concerned about HIV and go for another test now? Given that I tested negative on day 39 (Ag/Ab) and 79 (Ab). I read you reply the forums that 11 weeks should be highly reliable for low risk and one can move on.

2. Is there a possibility of late seroconversion (esp. on a low risk exposure)?

3. Should I test for other STDs like Hep/Gonorrea/NGU/Chlamydia?

4. What could be my real risk here and why is my immune system behaving so erratic? Is this stress related ?

I am really anxious, please advise!

Thanks

yikes!  dr.hhh is NOT going to respond to you on this forum.

the FACTS regarding this are...

1) you do not get hiv from kissing
2) you do not get hiv from receiving a hand job
3) you do not get hiv from rubbing a stripper's vagina

YOU DO NOT HAVE A HIV CONCERN...NO IFS, ANDS, OR BUTS ABOUT IT!!!!!

Relax.

You were NEVER at risk during your incident.  NOT at all...ZERO risk.

UTI's *are* indeed much more common in women, due to the nature of the anatomy, but in no way are they UNcommon in men.

I would imagine that if things don't start clearing up...most likely your doc will refer you to a Urologist.

But, HIV and STD's are not a concern for you.  You are dealing with guilt, which can wreak havoc on a person.  Move on, put this behind you.

I am not sure yet if its bacterial for this specific urinary trouble and groin pain. it could be  kidney stones too. I've had some pain for the last two years on rt side of groin. I got sore throat, came out if now this. The doc has ordered a urine culture for Chlamydia.  I will rule out HIV, STDs - Syphilis (already tested at week 11) and Chlamydia soon. Then all that is left I guess is Gonnorea. The issue I have is I never had penile bleeding during urine while I lived with some slight pain. Last ight I had lot of chills with high fever. Heard its common of UTI. Any comments on that in this forum?

And yes, I will gladly pay $15 to get Dr HHH expert advise, even if its exactly same as yours. No offense meant. He is a Expert on Infecious Diseases you see; acts like a magical potion...:-)

Just got my urine analysis... There is more of WBC 20-50 not normal. Not significant RBC and but with Blood its concentrated. All Nitrite, etc were neg. My Doc sent it for culture. We will see in 1-2 days what bacteria is present my body that is causing this WBC reaction. Hopefully, it will be some flu or some minor problem. And I do agree this may not be a STD, but I am under weather for sure with fever and that feels miserable. Timing wise, its a lesson for me.

I do need to post this is expert forum for Dr HHH's expert comments on urine/blood/STD testing and results.

Thanks for your comments alienshadow!

I agree...Guilt eats man from inside.
