Bismuth subsalicylate affect Oraquick test

Hi, there,

Just another quick question about the Oraquick swab test. Would bismuth subsalicylate affect the result? Since there is no description in the directions of the kit. Just said don't eat, drink or use any oral care products, nothing else about the medicine used before the test.

I appreciate any comments! Thanks!

Can I ask one more question:

Once symptoms present, can rapid test like oraquick detect the antibodies? Thanks!

Teak,

I am trying to understand, but I am most worried if there is blood in my partner's mouth when she was licking my bleeding wound, can I still calm down with this scenario? I had diarrhea, the most common symptom of infection, which make me so worried. Thanks!

Almost no medications have any effect on HIV test reliability and for sure this one does not.  Even if you had a real exposure, your test result is conclusive.

Hiv is very fragile and hard to transmitt especially if it's exposed to air! You never had a risk, I wish I was in your shoes. I promise your results will be negative buddy! Good luck ! In my case I've had an known exposure to someone who was hiv positive and tested negative at 84 days past exposure(12 weeks) ! I'm praying that I'm okay with this! It's hard to get answer about this horrific virus.

Thanks for your reply.

I did a oraquick test today, it is negative indeed. (one month and 2 days from my exposure). I am still very anxious since I told you I had diarrhea. And it NEVER gone. I feel like my life was destroyed and I can not calm down.
I beg you read my situation carefully as follows:

I have a open wound with slightly bleeding, if a hiv positive person
lick this wound ( again suppose she has some blood in her mouth). Under this scenario, would there be any chance get infected?

and please tell me this is still not an exposure?

I know I made a very stupid mistake, my wife has noticed my un-usual actions recently. I feel like I can not go through it any more. Please help me!!! I beg you!
