Broken Condom Unknown status Need quick advice.

Hello,
The situation was I (M) had a condom break with a woman during vaginal sex. I consider her status unknown, she says shes uninfected but has not tested in a couple years as she states. I have already done some looking here so I am aware of the general stats of vaginal sex cuasing 1/2000 infections or .0005% with a confirmed infected partner for the insertive partner. So that is good news of course however I am still worried and was looking into PEP. This happened on sat wo im within the window however I have a feeling I may be going way overboard and I do not want to delay my ability to test. I did call the local clinic and they said they recommended just waiting 2 weeks to begin early testing if I want but that the situation with the insertive hetero sex is really a risk for other stds more so than HIV, or more specifically gonorrhea and chlamydia. They also state they had a 2 month wait for the meds which does me no good but that I could ask an ER. So then I called the ER and they of course want me to come in for an eval but i know it will be expensive etc and if they agreed to the PEP treatment Im afraid it would break the bank and be a really high level of added anxiety so I want to know what the SANE rational thing to do here is. I dont want to regret my choice either way . Any input is appreciated. Thank you.

It appears you were 100% right. Talked to a doc today and he basically said no doc at this clinic would administer PEP without a confirmed exposure of blood from an hiv+ person. A simple condom break is not enough and he said PEP is pretty hardcore.now I just sit back and wait 28 days and go get my negative results then I guess. So much easier said than done. It is comforting to recall that even worst case scenario a vaginal insertion carries only one half of one thousandth of a percent of risk.
