Broken Condom

Broken Condom

on 11-5-10 I went out with a friend. We were blacked out drunk but i know we had sex and i know one of the condoms broke because I came out of the blackout during intercourse. Am i high risk? low risk? Should i get a HIV PCR test? Will it give me a false positive?

if the condom broke, you put yourself at risk. 6-8 weeks test is great indication of your status. 12 weeks is the conclusive result.

PCR test is not FDA HIV diagnostic approved test. Get the  right  HIVdiagnostic test

Yes the condom did break. Would that be considered high risk? It has been 5 days and I am stressing hard. I have developed diarehaa is that a symptom of hiv?

I mean is diahreaa a symptom i would have so early? NO, it is most likely due to anxiety

Thank you for the advice NickOne7. I dont feel sick but i have been having diarehaa all day and have gotten random hot flashes and cold sweats, i hope it was the burrito i ate last nite and thats all. i think i am goin to tough it out and wait till the 6 week mark and get a oral rapid test.  In your opinion NickOne7 should i be This scared?

Being scared is not something I can answer, But you had a risk - also if you had the sex with your "Friend" as him/her to test to ease your mind until you test

Hope this helps

It's not something you must be scared of dude. Remember that HIV is a virus which is not easy to transmit. HIV symptoms come all at once and gone in a week to 2 weeks, you wont get one symptom on days and then another one the next couple of days. Relax, just get yourself the 6 week test for great indication of your status.

Thank you for all the advice your guys. And Tom i am going to get tested at 6 weeks if i can make it that long stress wise lol. But i have another concern now as well. I didnt think much of it then, but on the morning i woke up after my night in question, i noticed that on my skin my tinea vesicolor had returned. I found this odd but didn't pay it much mind until now 3 weeks later it is spreading very rapidly scross my arms and chest even though I am treating it. so my question is ,Could HIV have lowered my immune system in less than 12 hours causing the tinea versicolor to appear in the morning and to now be spreading so fast? Or maybe it was coming back anyways and the hiv is helping it spread faster? please any help? i am pretty nervous as i have read a few articles on the internet and they seem to imply that skin disorders of some sort are a sign of primary hiv infection =(

ARS symptoms don't come on that fast. If one has ARS symptoms that come at 2-4 weeks post exposure and last 1-2 weeks.

Thanks Teak, that being said though do you think Tinea Vesicolor is a symptom or ARS in general? And my worry is that i was already getting the Tinea Vesicolor and that maybe the HIV virus would be making it progress faster seeing as i am at the 3 week mark. Thank you

What you describe is a common skin infection, NO symptoms can tell you about your status. Testing at 3 months is the only way.

Hi Teak, still waiting for the 3month mark before going for a test.but would like to know,i read in an article that there are sore throats caused by cold, virus and bacteria,is it reasonable to say the sore throat hiv symtom is a viral infected sore throat?please i need to know and also can i ask the girl i had sex with to go for a test?does it ease my fears?

Thanks NickONe, I am going to test at 6 and 12 weeks. However could you humor me by answering my question? I am aware that Tinea Vesicolor is common, however is it common or even heard of in terms of Acute hiv infection?

I am aware that Tinea Vesicolor is common, however is it common or even heard of in terms of Acute hiv infection? This would be a very unlikely ARS symptom, but could be a symptom in a later stage of the virus. But testing is the only clear answer.

Hope this helps

So i got tested at 4 weeks with oral quick test, came back negative and all anxiety symptoms have subsided. I am going again at the 8 week mark, I feel pretty confident it was just anxiety. However I have one more lingering question, after i go for the 3 month mark will i have to go again at 6 months? if not then why do some people go at 6 months, i heard that it is rare that people show up after 3 months to 6 6months, only people that have immune system problem take longer to develop anti bodies. Is this true? I ask because I have Tinea Vesicolor a skin disease that may be caused by suppressed immune systems. Does that mean I should go at 6 months? The last time I even had a cold was in July I rarley get sick. Maybe my immune system is comprimised? that is why i have Tinea Vesicolor? advice would be awesome thank you.
