Concerns

I had protected vaginal intercourse in Vietnam with a CSW almost 3 weeks ago, I am pretty sure that the condom did not break or slip during the action. After I came back to Singapore, I went to the doctor to seek for  advice, the doctor says even if with condom there is a low risk of getting hiv, so I did a HIV PCR RNA test at 11 days after exposure, the result came out negative, but doctor recommended a follow up duo combo test at 28 days of exposure. Since then, I’ve been really anxious about it, I thought I am well protected if I use condom, is the doctor telling the truth? Am I at risk of getting HIV

Hi - as long as the head of your penis was covered during intercourse, you were NOT at risk for HIV. You would have noticed if the head of your penis was uncovered, because the condom would have been burst wide open, or have fallen off your penis completely.

Why did the doctor said there’s a risk even if I told him I use condom during the intercourse? Condom did not rip or slip off
I don't know why he said that. I don't know your doctor.
I am guessing that like most doctors who are NOT specialists in HIV or STDs, he is simply not very knowledgeable in that area.

The only risk when using condoms is if the condom breaks or falls off. Otherwise, you are safe from HIV.
He doesn't sound like much of a doctor. sw are trained by doctors in my area to use a condom because they won't get hiv. If she supplied the condom she is likely neg anyway because she wants to be protected from clients.
