HIV early

Hello:

I need advice on my current situation. On October 29/2006 I had unprotected sex with a "crazy" girl. This was a sunday morning. after two days from exposure, during the tuesday  and wednesday nights I had fever and night sweat. Also a strong headache came along which intensified if I moved my eye balls around. The days after I had loss of appetite and constant fatigue. Sometimes when I forced my self to eat I felt nauseous. These symptoms lasted for about a month or so. I decided to test for HIV with an ELISA test exactly 6 weeks after exposure. It came back negative, but I was still feeling with malayse and physical discomfort. To make it worse, out of nothing (6 and a half weeks) I get a sore throat that lasted about a week where my neck lymph nodes got swollen. After this I have had a constant flu-like illness no inflamation on my lymph nodes, but with dry cough and typical infection in my throat.    Today is January 21 (55 days after exposure), and during the last two weeks I have continued with the short breath, and the lymph nodes under my armpits have become really discomforting, I also feel some tension in my neck and groin. I plan to take an ELISA by the end of this week (3 month period completion). At first I considered the possibility of other STDs but I never showed defining physical symptoms. I also tested for Gonorrhea, Syphilis, Herpes and Chlamydia and they came back negative. On my blood tests I have a Lymphocyte differential count of 22.5% outside the lower range (25% - 40%) but still not so out of the ordinary.

I need to know if I could have start feeling bad so early after an exposure (2 days after). I also feel disoriented and doubtful with the fact that I have been feeling continuously bad during the last three months, not all symptoms have taken place simultaneously during a 2 week or a 1 month period, but for about three months. I tested for mononucleosis and it also came back negative. Basically uncertainty is killing me and I need to make decisions based on a confirmed diagnosis whether it is HIV or not, and if not HIV..what could it be? For now I have concentrated on my work and my friends and I have avoided any possible sexual contact I can have with any girl. What would you suggest, given my situation?

First....breathe!

Second..
An HIV test at this point would be more than conclusive.
Your risk was in Oct. 06.  IF you test now...you would be in the clear.
Symptoms are not a reliable indicator of infection. You would be surprised what the mind does to the body!

Wishing you the best.

I am in the same boat as you.  I felt the terrible headache behind the eyes and still have it about two to three times a week.  The doc states on here a 6-8 wk neg is all you need.  If you feel you need to be tested again for closure do so but goodluck on your negative!

Same thing for me testing negative but feel sick and terrified.

But I think you  are OK. Just test again to be done with it.

Hey Thanks everyone for your support. I remain confident that good news will be awaiting for me by the end of this week.I guess I'll take the test by Wednesday in order to have a response on Friday. Thanks again, I'll let you know how everything turned out to be.
