I had sex with a commercial sex worker. Specifically, we had vaginal intercourse with a condom (latex condom, we did not use an oil based lubricant and the condom did not break). We stopped, she removed the condom and gave me oral sex for about a minute and then we put on a second condom (again, latex) and had vaginal sex again. The condom was rolled down just about as far as it could go but it did reach all the way to the base of my penis. Later that night, while showering, I washed my penis with soap and felt some stinging at the very base of my penis. Upon inspection I realized there were some very small cuts / abrasions at the base. From reading various threads on this forum I know that risk of HIV transmission from oral sex is very low. However, I am concerned about the cuts / abrasions on the base of my penis and the risk of transmission that way. Subsequent to this episode I called the person I had sex with and asked about her HIV status and testing frequency. She told me she gets tested every six months; she just had a test recently and it was negative. Initially this reassured me but the more I replay the conversation in my head, the more I am questioning how honest she was about this. In general, how likely is transmission through small cuts on the base of my penis? Also, how worried should I be about this encounter and should I go seek a doctor about a PEP regime?
