My results of my duo came back negative. I know that it was a low to no risk situation but if I was exposed could that kind of test be conclusive at 9 weeks ? The doc told me it could as it checked for numerous things in the test I just needed that definitive answer and had the best sleep of my life last night. Apologies for anyone's time I have wasted and best wishes to you all
I'm sure you've read numerous posts here where we clearly tell people we maintain that a test at 3 months is conclusive in a situation where someone has had a risk. You didn't.
You never needed to test in the first place, let alone taking more than one. In a risk situation, a 9 week negative would be a very good indication that transmission didn't occur, but we would still recommend a follow up test at 3 months for a definitive result.
I think it was a tri Dot again I know you have advised no testing I'm just interested. Thank you
Hey teak don't want to take up anymore of your time. I went and got tested just for my own peace of mind so it is more concrete evidence. I did the pin prick rapid test in the uk where I got the results in 60 secs they were negative I've also done another blood test for the p24 antigen just for further evidence. I'd just like to know how accurate the rapid test I did at 9 weeks ?
i cant tell you how much this advice helps thankyou so much
Yes put it behind you and move along.
so i can put this behind me as if it had failed I would know myself and would have something real to worry about instead of the worries i am making up ?
When a condom fails it fails catastrophically by design. There is no doubt when one fails.
i was the most drunk ive ever been in my life hence the silly mistake i did so that's the reason in my mind i have 'what if the condom broke' as when i removed it i didn't properly inspect it but she finished with oral and HJ afterwards to finish. so would testing be recommended or would you suggest i put this behind me and i get on with my life and stop asking myself the stupid question about the condom as i probably wouldn't really notice these 'symptoms' unless i had thoroughly researched like i have done
*you can't go by the symptoms.
Ignore the above poster. You CANNOT ever go by symptoms and had the condom failed you would have known and you do not need to test. It's irresponsible to tell someone to test for peace of mine when they never had an exposure and to cause undue anxiety.
Hi,
you can go by the symptoms. I believe that it is better for you to test in order to be aware and sure of your status.
You can take a duo test 4 weeks after your last exposure and if negative you can confirm the result , just for the peace of your mind, 3 months after your last exposure.
Keep calm until your results :)
okay but out of curiosity symptoms would not really come at 8 weeks would they and that mouth ulcers (canker sores) and a achey (only when i think about it) neck would not really be cause for concern for hiv?
also one final question before im out of your hair, mouth ulcers (canker sores) are questioned as to whether they are a symptom or not?
I am going to get tested just for peace of mind to be honest even though you may see this as a waste of time
thankyou for your help sir
I also have a slight weak cough is sometimes dry and sometimes flemmy I also have sort of loose stools but nothing considerable
