Dr. Frascino Reply to Window Period

Dr Frascino;
"""No doubt HIV testing is becoming more sophisticated in detecting anti-HIV antibodies earlier, thereby shortening the window period. However, not everyone has access to the latest generation of antibody tests. Plus, testing techniques are only part of the equation. The other part has to do with an individual's immune response. Some people take longer to develop antibodies than others. Therefore, no matter how sensitive the testing assay may be, the critical factor may be the variability in the immune response from person to person.
If a person was significantly exposed to a known HIV-infected person, the estimated statistical risks change and a second repeat test "might" be considered at six months or more from the exposure depending on the circumstances. And yes, there are very rare reports of seroconversion 6-12 months after a known exposure. The exact details of these very rare historical cases are a bit sketchy, but the reports do indeed exist in the medical literature. Today, however, extended follow-up testing beyond six months after exposure to rule out the extremely rare possibility of delayed seroconversion is not recommended, except under exceedingly rare circumstances that should be based on the clinical judgment of an HIV specialist."""

My sympathies with your concern. Look at it this way. If people took that long to develop antibodies, there would be more peole with HIV all over.  This is not surely the case. I know it is very hard accept in the face of all these symptoms. I myself have them after being tested 4 times,  4 months after the exposure.

I think you are safe to get on with your life. Keep us updated. Get another test in about 5 months, if you cannot live with the current results.

I hate when that happens. kind of like when you go to the clinic to test and some of the drug users sit in the chair and you get their blood and oil from their body on your hand.

just sounded a little strange..."hopefully"...does that mean that they "hope" the result was right?  hopefully the line was in the middle?  hopefully it wasn't that pinkish color?  hopefully too much alcohol wasn't mixed in?  hopefully a dirty needle or pricker wasn't used?

awh hell...hopefully they didn't get the test mixed up with someone else's test...

I went to my dr , she said i have to promise her that i m not gonna visit her again, i listed all my symptoms like neural disorder (jolting muscles),chest pain,weekness,body ache in the moning and so on ... some dots like herpes in the boarder of my lips ,thrush in the morning ,but she said it is not HIV related,how come???!!!!!!
