Really Nervous and Scared

Hello guys,

I have been worried so much and I am planning on going to a std clinic soon. I made a big mistake and will regret it for the rest of my life and I feel so depressed. On December 3rd, I performed oral sex on a mtf transsexual. She said she was tested and was disease free. A week and a half later. I started developing a mild headache for 3 days along with some neck pain. After my neck pain, I might have had a tender gland (not sure) for a day. I had no trouble swallowing, no sore throat, or other flu like symptoms. Two days later, I shaved and the area started burning a few hours later and I saw bumps on my neck that looked exactly like folliculitis. Some spots went away by the next day. Other spots took around 2 days to go away leaving some brown spots sort of like scars(im indian) where these former bumps were. I also noticed there was a painless white reddish bump in my inner lip in my mouth that looked like a chancre.I decided to wait for a week and a half before shaving with a new razor and now I'm seeing the same bumps again. Some of these bumps tingle/hurt when I touch them. I also noticed a rash on both of my shoulders and flat red spots over my chest and upper body. My hands are trembling so much Im in tears as I am afraid that I have contracted hiv and/or herpes or other stds. For the past 2 days, I have also had watery diarrhea. I bought an oraquick testing kit from cvs 2 days ago and did an oral swab test which tested negative. How accurate is oraquick? Is it possible that I got HIV? This is probably one of my main concerns. The bump in my inner lip has gotten smaller and I can barely feel it. Please answer,

No, folliculitis is not a concern in acute HIV infection.

While entities like the CDC (who are very conservative) apply a low risk to giving oral sex to a partner, most well schooled experts in HIV state that IF there is a risk, it's very insignificant, and wouldn't recommend testing.

You can take a DUO test, which will be conclusive at 28 days post exposure.  It will be negative.

None of your symptoms are at all consistent with ARS.

Hello NurseGirl, I tested with the HIV Home Access Test and sent in my same plast week. I got my results two days ago.I got my results in yesterday at 8 weeks and fortunately they were negative. As you told me, oral sex is barely a  risk. However my anxiety continues to pain me and I still ponder that I have hiv. I talked to an dermatologist online and showed him pictures of the spots on my skin and the rashes on my shoulder. He told me those were not rashes and were due to working out or stretching my shoulders. The brown and red spots he said were benign post inflammatory hyper pigmentation and were not infectious nor a sign of a std. In addition, I have been having folliculitis on my face for the past 8 weeks every time I shave. The dermatologist claims it is due to bacteria and not an std after showing the pictures. Do you even think there is the slightest possibility I have a different strain of HIV? I know the most common strains in the United States are HIV 1 and to some extent HIV 2. I have been worried due to the various skin conditions I have been having.

I also found this post with Dr. Hook claiming there is a specific form of folliculitis that shows up in primary hiv infection in this post over here

ORAQUICK at home test would not give you conclusive results at 4 weeks.

SherwinHanz advise on 4th gen testing at a lab is good, in general.

Also, the test is  give a 92% accuracy in the hands of non-professionals.  Dr. Wohl has been asked on thebody.com  and he seems to prefer lab testing over this method.

As far as risk the CDC says the risk from oral is "low risk".  Here is the link
http://www.cdc.gov/hiv/risk/behavior/oralsex.html

But some people say you cannot get hiv from oral sex.

Be well

The best option is to go for a 4th gen test (hiv ag/ab combo hiv test ) 28 days after the exposure. It is available at The Metropolis lab which have branches all over India. It just costs around 500rs.  The result after 28 days is conclusive. Never judge hiv with symptoms. Test results over rules your symptoms. Ok

High anxiety can cause neck nerve aches. canker sores can be because you consumed oranges in the period of anxiety. Blade causing skin irritation is common. Red posts can be because of bug or mosquito bites.  Relax
